 no Welsh songs in chat tonight so far

Not normally a rugby fan, but enjoyed watching that.

Actually it was Wales giving away to many penalties due to infringements at the breakdown that lost them the game . . . I mean FFS handing in the ruck . . . when the ref has already sin binned an opposition player for the same thing   . 'Heat of the Moment' Don't give me that they are professional players they know exactly what they are doing.

And as for the Welsh player tripping an opponent (off the ball and not seen by an official) that's an instant Red Card . . . bet he is hauled up in front of the disciplinary panel and gets a two match ban!

As usual, England played well enough to win . . . and as much as I hate to say it Wales played poorly enough to let them. Given how well they played for the first 10 minutes Wales should have easily one that game

i dont buy the cheating england idea. they played well enough to beat a poor wales.

jon davies played that trip. it was stupid, petulant and a clear penalty, possibly yellow but red would have been very harsh. stupid boy was lucky. will probably get cited for it and could be out for some time. shame because he is usually a good, clean, honest player and a great talent. no excuse though. a poor bit of sportmanship from the boy.

thought the ref was good.

not a great game but a good one and the better team won fair and square

Well said HHT :thumb: bit more objective look on the game :thumb: at least you seem to have watched the same game as I did

The Italy Ireland game was not one of the best and Ireland just made sooooo many simple mistakes

France Scotland, well it looked like France were going to run away with it, but credit to the Scots, they stuck in well and got some reward :!:

i missed em all :(

fell asleep in te england game was knackard after a hard week, and stuck out on the roads due to flooding so nly managed the last 10 mins of france scotland :(

Ashton is a class act though

UP

a good opening weekend. no upsets -just upset welshmen.

italy were very good and ireland will be heaving a sigh of relief that they had o'gara the game saver with them.

the scots, scroing trys? when did they start doing that? very well played the scots. they will have no fear of the welsh after that show and will go to twikkers confident they can bring a top game.

looking forward to next weekend. very nervous of travaling to murryfield though

predictions for round 2

scotland by less than 7
england by more than 10
france by more than 5

I didn't see the England and Wales game or the Ireland and Italy one, however, I saw the France & Scotland. Thought Scotland played really well against a very good French side (though I thought France's defence was poor at times)

Entertaining stuff DJ sorry you missed it

.... the disappointing game of the weekend was the Ireland France game, Ireland just gave the French too many penalties which Parra didn't miss :(
That apart, Ireland didn't have the same number of handling errors in this game, that was until the very end, where Ireland knocked on when they had an opportunity to win the game :?: :!:

Ireland gifted it to them Baz, I was shouting at the Tv for most of the second half :x

happy, of course, with a welsh win at last. its been over a year since the last one. and to win away to an improving scotland makes the win a real achievement.

ireland france was a great game for the neutral. very exciting rugby from start to finish.
england italy was atotal try fest and my english guests, (who drank almost 12 bottles of tomcaxtons) really enjoyed themselves.

i dont expect anyone to get a grand slam this year but englands tonking of italy will probably mean they will go on to win on points difference

round 3

italy V wales

home advantage will give the italians some courage but the welsh, off the back of their first win in a looong time, will be too strong for the azzuri. wales to win

engalnd V france.

home advantage will be crucial for england. the current england team might have the beating of the french but they would struggle in paris. although it wont be an armchair ride for them at HQ by any means either and the english pack, and particularly their back row will have to be on song if the new-look england back division are to put over the scores. a narrow win for england.

(sunday) ireland V scotland

the scots have struggled to perform yet this tournament and this is disapointing for them as they performed so well in the recent autumn series-notably beating the current world champions. however it might be too big an ask for the scots to put together a performance away against a very good, allbeit misfireing ireland. a narrow win for the irish.

Not for those England supporters of a nervous disposition, this could be a tight game, if England can get the French heads to drop with a decent first half performance it should go the way of England, but if France get their noses in front they'll be difficult to beat as always :?

The Irish seemed to have got over their handling problems, simple errors of their opening game, the Scots just don't seem to have got going

But as always, a few beers available and looking forward to the games :thumb:

round 4

that was a long two weeks since the last 6 nations weekend. here comes another. brace yourselves.

Italy V France
I cant see home advantage amounting to very much in this fixture. a nice warm up match for the home nations fans. expect a big win for France.

Wales V Ireland.
Ireland have scored more trys than wales this year but wales look like clicking at any moment and could run in a few themselves. the teams are the two most penalised this year, with Wales having accrued slightly more penalties than ireland. discipline will be crucial. expect a lot of kicks at goal. expect a very close match. too close to call.

England V Scotland (sunday)

the calcutta cup match is never dull. this year could be a real cracker, or it could be a very dire affair. england will be playing to maintain their 100%, and they are playing very well at the moment. scotland entered the tournament as possible stalking horses with their wins in their summer and autum series. they will be hoping to take the game to england. a win for scotland in this match will be huge. expect a brusing encounter with england pulling steadily away and finishing with a good win.

have a good weekend all

:drunk:

I like your views there HHT :thumb: probably because they're pretty close to mine

Might miss part of the first game today but the second could be edge of the seat time for you, it is going to be close, I think the Irish will struggle with the Welsh being at home, will be a great atmosphere though :thumb:

Calcutta Cup match, often isn't the exciting match it should be, think the Wales Ireland game will be 'the one to watch' this weekend, either way, the beers have been moved up from 'The Den' :D

im not going to miss a kick of any of the qames. but, sadly, i wont be watching wales with a beer today. after a long week i still have one more duty to attend to later tonight.

im going to record WalvIre and if its a good game i will watch it again when i get back home and have a few beers with the replay.

if i have enough beer it might seem as if i hadnt seen the match before. thats what you call a win win
