5 Gal BIAB on stovetop

Im in the process of buying a 50L pot from our German friends. Im wondering though will the amount of steam be totally unacceptable? Or will leaving the backdoor and kitchen window open be sufficient to let most of it escape.

Would doing half the boil with the lid on still allow the dms to all be boiled off?

I do 40l brews in a 70l pot with windows open front and back and the extractor on full whack. There is very little condensation and the house smells ace!

I brew on top of the hob (i.e. underneath the extractor hood), but not actually using the gas as I have an electric boiler.

I never get any problem with condensation in the room, just a little dripping from the hood itself when it's cooler outside (so I keep the boiler half-lidded which catches the drips).

Actually DMS isn't something to worry about with UK Pale Malt. It contains very little of what creates it, so you can essentially boil with the lid more or less on. If you're really worried, you could buy one of those long dryer extractor tubes and graft it into the pot lid...

What about if you don't have an extractor?

Would windows open and door be enough? Would doing something like having a desktop fan pointing towards the window help?

I use a 50 litre pot on the stove top ... using two of the 4 gas burners ...it works fine other than a little condensation on the high level grill above the pot ...

Really isnt a problem.
