Well I've tried the grand total of 0, :shock: even though I've worked in pubs on and off for the last 14 years I've never actually drank an ale. I normally drink cider and the occasional lager. I've never been a fan of bitter but at the grand hold age of 30 I've decided it's time to try some ales, so as u guys are the experts I would like your suggestions of ales to try, ideally ones that can be bought in asda, tesco, home bargains etc. please don't banish me from the forum for being an ale virgin haha

Brew Dog: Punk IPA Tesco's
Thornbridge: Jaipur "
Young's: Double Chocolate Stout "

If it is bottle conditioned there's a reasonable chance it will be 1/2 decent at least.
 
20 that i can remember , :drunk: , tho i think this line is the most telling in the list of some of them

"So what beers are easily available in the bottle and have acquired a name that even a spotty beer novice still drinking with stabilisers would recognise? "

,we have a bass in northern ireland, seems to be a different one o the list, which is wise....

cant say i rate newcastle brown ale that much but thats just me i guess
 
Ok so I'm now drinking my first ever ale a bishops shepherd finger and its far to bitter for me. 3 more assorted bottles in fridge lets hope I can find one I like.

I think a fridge is too cold for an ale :whistle:

You must have had more than one! It should be Bishops Finger not Shepherds Finger!
 
I loved Bishop's Finger. Ages since I had some though. Spitfire's good aswell
