Hi all. A friend is getting me own of these. I'd love to use it for bottling home brew...

Question is, will my little bottler manage it?

I wouldn't have thought so, mine only just does a bottle of wine. I think it will be a syphon job!

If a little bottler is like a bottling 'wand', then if you tilt the growler and touch the tip of the little bottler to the glass, then I imagine it would dispense the beer and fill without too much fuss. Running the beer down the side of the growler presumably won't cause much of a risk of oxidation?

Because of the shape of the growler I don't think that would be possible.

I'll have a play over the weekend and see if I can attach it to the end of a syphon tube.

This sized bottle would be perfect to take to parties or nice amount for a Saturday night. Plus shorten bottling day and it also looks the biz (Well I think so anyway!).

There is no more risk with a syphon, just ensure that it is at the bottom of the bottle before you turn on the tap and the same as the wand when you remove it you will have the correct headspace.

why not use the bottler on the end of a syphon, i did until i got a tap for my fv/pb

Exactly what I was thinking, or a bit of syphon tube on the end of the little bottler to go between it and the tap :thumb:

Yep, if it fits, and some do (that is how one of my mates does all his bottling) unfortunately my syphon tube is too narrow.

Yes, they are not all equal, I have around 3 lengths and they are all different bores

Take the bottler down to somewhere doing tubing and buy a short section ?

mine a very tight fit but i put the last inch just boiled water for a few minutes to soften then push over the end of the bottler. or if its to narrow push into the bottler tube , i use youngs/wilko syphon

I have wand on pvc hose (tap - 1.2 meter hose - wand) and have no problems with filling 2 ltr swing top bottles.
