Day off so was busy

pot of bolognese made also a pot of chilli..

then the beer

and a baked cheesecake.

lost a lot more than usual during boil ..so topped of with the tail end of runnings..and some ashbeck

hop strainer was a complete pain as it kept clogging so spent ages faffing with a spoon....then lost the head and jugged the wort and put it through a sieve....so no doubt beer might be a tad cloudy..

Time will tell

og came out pretty close 1.062 ish

trial jar tasted fine

Nice ingredients, sounds good, I'd do more late hops myself though, 5g at 15 mins won't touch the sides. Sure it'll be great though.

bit of an update

been fermenting for a week now ....first time using s0-5 seemed a bit slow to start , but when it did..was lively..

anyhoo just took a reading its below 1.010 though just ...but bloody hell its bitter ...tried a coopers cerveza which had started several days before (to test out corny) and thought meh.

the ag one however really got my attention....20 mins later and i can still taste the hops.....think im gonna have to bottle it....really not going to be one to quaff in quantity..

i was thinking of dry hopping ....but thats not gonna happen now..

ive just poured a stout to try get my tastebuds back...

any excuse :sulk:

35g grams of Columbus is a lot of bitterness. I would reduce this and use more hops at the end of the boil for flavour. 5g is not much, and I'd put them in with 5 or 10 minutes boil time left, or even after the boil has finished. If you use brewing software, it will calculate the bitterness for you in IBUs and this will guide you.
