Just seen a link to this in the Brewing Equipment Thread: Generic CTRN18 Catering Urn, Hot Water Boiler & Dispenser, Ideal for Home Brewing, Commercial or Office Use, 18 Litre Capacity:Amazon.co.uk:Kitchen & Home

I've got a second hand one in perfect working order, but has 2 x 25mm holes drilled in it for a thermowell and a tap. If they are £60 new I'd let this go for £25 plus Postage (or collect from Shrewsbury).

Note all shiny apart from some minor scorch marks inside where the heating element is.

Great bargain, if I wasn't so heavily invested in stove top I would have snapped this up! Perfect AG starter

If you want to sell the stock pot on its own then let me know

Happy to. I can get some photos tomorrow if you like. It has a single hole in the side at the bottom where the tap was (that I have reused) and a 1” hole in the lid which I used for the HERMS return pipe. Not sure if this makes it better or worse for you?

It’s now been replaced with its big brother, a 70L version and I am doing 50L batches.

Stock pot cost me around £60 from memory. Would sell for £30 plus postage or collect from Shrewsbury.

Cool box was around £50 with the tap so £20 plus postage.

Here’s some not very close up shots of the stock pot in action, and its predecessor the cool box (before the new worktop and painted wall).

Hi is this still for sale and if so how much if sold as a starter kit ? Thanks.

It is still for sale at the moment - first come first served. NewerBrewer did ask about the stock pot but I've not heard back.

It is not a complete starter kit of course as you will need other things, not least of all 3 x 1/2" taps (and a blank or a thermowell) for each of these vessels. However Just adding up the totals above as they are comes to £75 + postage.

This includes the 20L canteen urn, the blue cool box and the 35L stock pot for use as a kettle on a hob. You will still need some way of chilling (you can make a counterflow chiller with copper pipe and garden hose for about £35 or buy a proper one for 2x that), and a fermentation vessel.

I suppose I could buy and fit the new taps, make up the counterflow chiller and sell it more as a full starter kit (excluding fermentation vessel). If you were local I could also give you a training day with it! This would cost more for the extra parts I would have to buy so let me know if you are interested. I'm guessing it would come to around £200 all in (plus postage).

Thanks for the offer and if you was local i would love the chance to see it running .Im pretty good at making things having been employed as a fabricator in various disciplines over the years so i should be fine making the extra parts once i know what they are . Any ideas on postage as iv never sent or arranged anything other than what i could take to the post office.

I generally use Parcel2Go which gives access to different providers once you have told it what you want to send. New customers also get 10% off with the code "NEW10". Here are some quotes for them, but I will have to weigh and measure things later for you.

It comes up with Hermes Next Day with the following:
  • Maximum Weight 15 kg
  • Maximum Length 1.2 m
  • Max Length+Girth 2.45 m
£6.71 for up to 5Kg

For larger items it suggests UPS at £7.80 up to 10Kg. So on that basis if there are three separate boxes then it would be around £20-£25 depending on their weights.

I could make up a list of the things that you would need to add if you like.

Items still available if anyone else is interested. Note they all need taps and the canteen urn needs either a hole blank or a thermowell.

Just add some way to chill and a fermentation vessel and you probably have the main things for a 3-Vessel All Grain set up.
