Oh dear. I have two kegs full of undrinkable beer :(

I cant really figure it out, its obviously different infections in each. One tastes of really old oxidised beer you'd get from a bad pub and the other one tastes of nail varnish remover.

Had about 6-7 brews and some kits, all fine, no infections at all. Now two in a row?

The only things I have changed is SO4 to US05 and new yeast nutrient. Anyone ever had trouble with nutrient causing infections? Does US05 take very long to become drinkable?

Not good this. I dont think I can keep this up if all my beer is fit only for the compst heap!

Could the nail varnish remover be more like TCP?

If not, what temperature were you fermenting for, how long did it take?

No secondary ferment, only from fv to keg.

I have never had a problem with chlorine in the brewing water, but did wash out the keg with a lot bleach.... doesnt taste like TCP though. Its a really strong acetone flavour. Very chemically.

Fermentations were between 18 and 22C.........

Let's assume it is an acetone taste then. That usually indicates Ethyl acetate. Can be caused by the yeast strain - but that's not the case in your situation. Same with a higher fermentation temperature causing it, your temperatures were ok. It could be a wild yeast infection.

The other one just sounds like it's been oxidised through contact with air.

best thing to do before you brew again is to methodically clean and sanitise all of your equipment. Take particular care and do a really thorough job. Also if you are fermenting in plastic check your fermenters and make sure there are no significant scrapes that could hide any nasties.

You are not the only one to suffer this  I have had two brews that tasted just like yours and I put it down to fermenting my beers during hot spells. I found the yeast raced like mad ! I ended up throwing them down the toilet and then I built a FV Cabinet..! ;) !
With regards to Cleaning and Sanitizing I use Tubby Shaw'sHow to.. for all my brewing equipment..and it seems to work for me :thumb:
