Other than the obvious price differences, what are the advatages/disadvantages or taste/quality differences between the 1 can kits and the 2 can kits???

The price difference, given that a enhancer or kilo of DME will be around £6, isn't that great. But the reviews for the 2-can kits always mention the better flavour compared with the 1-cans.

Of course, if you are brewing a 1-can kit with brewers sugar (£3) or white sugar (£1) then the two can is a lot more expensive - but it will also mean the 2-can kits will taste that much better by comparison.

i've done two kit brews. one was two can, and delicious. the other was one can, and tasted like arse. not very scientific but there you go.

I think you have an answer :thumb:

The reason is all to do with malt. 2 can kits get all the sugars from malt extract which is not all fermentable leaving behind flavour and body. I can kits rely on you adding to the fermentables in the way of sugar which is 100% fermentable leaving the brew a bit thin and lacking flavour and not as much mouth feel. Now you could add a kit enhancer or dry malt extract instead of sugar but to be honest you will be spending near enough the same and a two can kit tends to be better quality to begin with.

Thanks for the replies, I like the science.....arse taste or no arse taste!
