I've just checked my first brew (Better Brew Export Lager) which I managed to dilute a little too much by not including the wort and sugar solution volumes in the 23 litre total so it started with a relatively low OG of 1.031. 7 days on at around 19'C and it's now at 1.005 which I think makes it 3.41% ABV (0.026 x 131.25). It's still bubbling away and my plan was to give it another 7 days or 2 consecutive days at the same SG but in the meantime, can anyone give me an idea of the fermentation curve I should expect i.e. what percentage of the fermentation has already taken place versus how much more there is to go and is there a way of calculating the FG I can hope for?
I've just put my second brew on (Better Brew Czech Pilsner) and was a lot more careful with the volumes so it has an OG of 1.038 which appears to be a bit nearer the norm? I've decided to stick to these 2 kits until I get a nice drinkable product before venturing on to something else and playing with DME or enhancer but given my schoolboy error on my first brew, is there anything I can do right now to prevent it tasting like gnats ****....??
Thanks!
Chris
