hi guys,i am on my first brew,i have the youngs you brew starter kit and i am brewing bitter.
i added the yeast yesterday as it took a few hours for the brew to reach room temp(12 in fact)as we have un naturaly cold water from our tap.the brew has started to fement and my question is: do i remove the throth from the top of the brew?
it is slightly cold in our house so i will leave it to ferment a few days longer than the instructions say.
also, bottles or pressure barrel? will i need to add gas? also for the next brew (ale) does anyone have a good kit,my fave ale(only becouse they only sell local in my pub) is jail ale and ikb brewed on dartmoor,
thanks mike

Nope leave it alone, apart from taking hydrometer readings leave your beer alone.

Get yourself a hydrometer if you haven't already, fermentation is complete when you have two gravity readings the same over two consecutive days, the instructions provided with the kit are a guide only ;)

That depends do you prefer bottled or draught beer? If you want to barrel you will need to add gas if you are going to drink more than a couple of pints a day in my experience.
As for kit recommendations I'll let the kit brewers answer that one for you :)
