They go for absolutely stupid money.
As an aside, a reconditioned engine for that is in the region of £10k.

The problem is, all the other bits that'll need replacing will cost around the same amount I can imagine.

The best option would be to find a wrecker.

They're not even a particularly nice looking car. The only thing going for them is the cosworth engine. But that's not all that special either.

If you want a classic, there are so many better ones out there for £55k or less.

I assume it's someone with lots of money who owned one back in the day, I would love to own my favourite car again which was a 2.3 V6 Cortina if I had loads of money the price wouldn't stop me.

I remember back in the day my mate had a Marina which if you lifted the carpet in the boot you could see the road!
He also had a 1.6 Cortina that when you went round corners a bit sharpish you could smell petrol. We found a hole in the fuel filler pipe which we bunged with some mesh and filler. We also fitted a new wing somehow but never painted it as the car was brown so eventually we figured it would rust to a similar colour. I can also remember going with him to buy it off a girl we were in school with...she wanted £200 but he had it for £160.

Loved my old man's escort cosworth. When I was 19 the rest of the family were abroad and my parents used my car for the airport run, leaving me with the cosworth. Took a girl out on a date and it got nicked. End of that fun.
