    Rebottling brew

Thanks, I know it sounds stupid but I don't want to spend all that time waiting just for it to be ruined. Thanks again.

    Rebottling brew

Thanks Wez, my main concern was skunking it what with the plastic bottles being clear, will that be a problem if I put it in the fridge?

    Rebottling brew

My Youngs lager has been in PET bottles in a dark place for about three weeks now, it was primed when bottled and has a good fizz to it, I have managed to get a few more brown glass bottles together and was wondering that if I rebottled them would it retain carbonation or would I need to prime...

Did I kill the yeast? Ginger Beer

More sweet than dry at the moment, I will leave it for a bit longer and get back onto making ale then, but it tastes pretty good already. Thanks.

Did I kill the yeast? Ginger Beer

I probably answered my own question, I was not sure as the fizzing seemed to stop after removing the lemon and ginger but I checked again and it's fizzing away. Thanks

Did I kill the yeast? Ginger Beer

Hey, I made the fiery ginger beer about 5 days ago, I made a mistake and pitched the (wine) yeast too soon when the water was still hot, I thought I had ruined it but shortly after it was fizzing and bubbling and has been since. Today I took the lemons and other bits floating on the top heard...

    botanic beer

I know Meadowsweet, also known as Meadsweet, which might give you can idea of what it was used for! Sacred to the druids and has some medicinal properties, at least I learnt something in Uni. Be careful if picking stuff from the wild though.

    Beer Wars film

I saw this last night, it's pretty interesting, it is also all about American brewing but still worth a watch. The trailer can be found on the website, it's not really for sale in the UK but you can get the DVD from the states, it can be found to watch online though or I can provide a link. I...

    Time before drinking

I am no expert but the sterliser is for sterilising equipment not for treating the water used in your brewing, so it's not the same.

    Youngs Lager Kit

Thanks, that's good as I have it in the box it came in, too a few sneaky peeks at it (dunno if I am supposed) and it actually smells like lager.. amazing! I will do some bitter next which I reckon will be better and then get some more expensive kits when I am not such a novice.

    Reusing bottles

Thanks for the replies, I might try a thin lager one as an experiment, I will have to put it somewhere where it wont do any damage if it explodes.

    Reusing bottles

Hey, I was just wondering what the deal is with reusing bottles from shop bought beer, my kit recommends not to and I have done some reading around that suggests most bottles are too thin and so may explode, anyone have an experience with reusing bottles? I am talking mainly about lager bottles...

    Youngs Lager Kit

Hello, first post. I started the Youngs definitive lager kit last night, my first kit. All seems pretty simple so far, have to keep it in my room as it's the only place that stays at the suitable temp. Does it matter if it is in a dark place though? Thanks.
