    Thomas coopers pilsener

Yes definate whiff of eggs, which is a good sign. I've now put it in spare room with window open so hopefully that'll take temp down nearer 12 deg ish. Gonna pick up a fridge off gumtree and temp controller and try do this right next time. How long (roughly) to brew a lager/pilsener at 12 deg...

    Thomas coopers pilsener

The kit says to brew at lower end of their normal scale soon higher than 21 deg, but states it will brew slower at lower temps. I believe it is lager yeast . Really need a brew fridge but finances won't allow that at present. I could stick it in the garage but suspect this would be around 7 deg...

    Thomas coopers pilsener

Brewed this up on Saturday with a og of 1040. Checked sg tonight and it's down to 1012 but there are loads of solids floating about. What the heck is that? It's hovering around 18 deg C which is where the kit says it should be.

    Lack of carbonation

Thanks for the replies folks. I used the drops because they came with the Coopers kit I bought. I may go down the granulated sugar route next time but as others have said they are very convienent. The bottles are being stored in the house so should be around 20 deg although i have not checked...

    Lack of carbonation

I'll give them another week, then try them again. If they are still the same I'll try adding a spoon of sugar.

    Lack of carbonation

Ok so I bottled my first brew last Saturday and thought I'd try one as a wee tester last night. Problem is that it was flat as a pancake- no fizz whatsoever . The bottles have been conditioned at 20 for 6 days. I wasn't expecting the finished article but Surely there should be some fizz???

    Temperature

Apologies for the newbie question here! My first brew has fermented away at about 23/24 degrees C. I realise now it should have been a bit lower, sg is sitting at 1010 so will be fine I'm sure. What ill effects, if any , are there by brewing a bit warmer?

    Coopers Aussie lager kit advice

Still new to all this and still getting used to the terminology, may well try that once I get my head round things. Did my first brew with this kit this morning, and things are starting to bubble away so hopefully it will turn out ok.

    Coopers Aussie lager kit advice

Hi folks I'm looking for some advice with my 1st home brew. I've been doing some reading and gather that the timescales mentioned on the kit instructions are a bit too short. The first fermentation in the fv should take about 1 to 2 weeks from what I can gather. I will be taking specific...

    Hi from a Newbie

Hi there folks  I've just bought myself a beer brewing starter kit and hope to get my first batch going today. My parents used to run a couple of home brew shops when I was young so I remember the kitchen being full of demijohns of wine and brewing beer. Despite the above I know...
