    Carbonating and ale ect"????

Just over prime your beer and it will be plenty carbonated. I used just over 1tsp per bottle on my wherry for a heck of a lot of fizz. Also over primed my keg with coopers bitter in it with 160g sugar for 40pints and it was quite fizzy. If the bottle/keg will take the pressure then just over...

    Carbonating after Stabilising?

Hi Rob, Thanks for the reply and the link! I have spent many hours searching the site for easy recipe's and never seen that one. I had wanted to stop it early but i do want some carbonation to it. Your right, my budget is £0! I don't want to spend any money on it, i'll keep the money for my...

    Carbonating after Stabilising?

Hi All, I got given a 2 litre demi-john last week and thought i'd have a play to see what i could do. The only squash we had in was tesco's (sugar free) summer fruits, so I bunged some water, sugar, squash, yeast and nutrient in and left it be, not expecting a lot. Having ignored all advice to...

    Using co2 bulbs?

Finally managed it! I was sure it wouldn't be that difficult. It still hurt like hell and stripped some of the plastic off of the adapter again. Put a towel around it like you suggested and just kept twisting with a mind of 'I wont stop untill it works or it breaks'... luckily for me it worked...

    Using co2 bulbs?

I've just had another go and it just will not screw on without wrecking either the plastic injector bit or my hands! Should it be that difficult to do?

    Using co2 bulbs?

I'm not going to be able to post a pic until later but it all came together as a kit so i'd hope it would all work together! The kit is the same as this http://www.lovebrewing.co.uk/lovebrewin ... th-barrel/

    Using co2 bulbs?

I thought it was that simple but couldnt see a thread on the holder to actually screw it on. I tried just pressing it down and the ridge stops it going all the way, when i tried to screw it it started to shave off the plastic and carve it's own thread! How difficult should it be? I did...

    Using co2 bulbs?

Hi, Got my coopers in a keg which has about 1/4 beer left in it and has absolutely no pressure left in it. Took out the co2 bulbs which came with my kit but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to use the damn thing!! I'm sure it is something simple and i'm missing a trick somewhere but...

    Woodfordes Wherry Review

My second brew, OG 1044 had a massive reaction in the first couple of days calming down around day three. Down to 1020 at day three & four so I gave it a stir and moved off the kitchen tiles and it dropped down to 1012 by day 7. Finished at 2012 (checked three days straight) so bottled yesterday...

    Vimto Cider, or not?

OK, I'll make sure he does! Although it will mean even more patience as we don't have a brewing shop near us and I don't think our closest Wilko stocks nutrient. Ta for the help, good to know there's a chance to save it!!! :D

    Vimto Cider, or not?

He hasn't mentioned using any nutrient but I know it was a wine yeast which he used. This might be a stupid question but will wine yeast nutrient be OK to use with champagne yeast? If I'm honest, I highly doubt he boiled it off enough (he's a tad impatient) so i'll suggest he re-boils and try...

    Vimto Cider, or not?

Hi All, My bro's had a go at making a Vimto cider, Started about 10 days ago, boiled up the vimto, added sugar, apple juice, water and pitched the yeast. He had a starting gravity of around 1080 and after ten days its around 1076.. so either he took the OG wrongly or its going extremely...

    Coopers, English Bitter

Been sampling mine on and off since I kegged it, its been kegged for two or three weeks now and the taste has changed massively since! I think I over-primed so it's turned out quite carbonated, which actually makes a nice taste. It was perfectly clear after about a week. Seeing as I used...

    Woodforde's Wherry at Wilko

Too excited so I've already got it going. I was only in for about five mins before I started! I pitched it with the packet yeast and It already smells good and actually already tastes half decent! Looking forward to this one more than the coopers, and I've got a wilko lager and St Peter's ruby...

    Woodforde's Wherry at Wilko

Hi guys, I've been trying to decide on my next brew and it was between the Wherry and the St Peters Ruby Red (both about £25 online so have been putting it off) Went into Wilko today to have a browse and found the Wherry for £16 :thumb: used the difference from the RRA to get a Wilko's...

    Coopers, English Bitter

Brewed this as my first brew as it came with my kit. Managed to balls up at the first hurdle and forgot to add sugar! Thanks to the guys on here I saved it and its now in the keg waiting to go into the cool for clearing. Starting gravity was 1038, brewed short (by accident) to about 21.5litres...

First Brew - Already made a mistake?!

Hi Eddy, I didn't find the instructions to be particularly clear and I had a DVD which was still just as confusing! It's my understanding that with a one can kit like this, you need to dissolve the contents of the can, make up to the required volume and add 1kg of either the sugar, brew...

First Brew - Already made a mistake?!

Hi guys, just thought I'd do a quick update. I ended up dissolving all the sugar I could find in some water and mixed it in on day two. Totalled 850g and a starting gravity of 1038. Waited 11 days and the final gravity was 1006, which from the calculator looks to be around 4%, which I am very...

First Brew - Already made a mistake?!

Hi all, thanks for all the tips! I hadn't quite topped it up to 23 litres so added 850grams of dissolved sugar (no brewing shops near me so I used all the normal white granulated I had) I know you said not to worry about the hydrometer reading too much but I have now noticed the mark which says...

First Brew - Already made a mistake?!

I was just playing with the sample and added some sugar water which increased the level. I was going to ask if that will work. What reading should I expect from the hydrometer?
