    Right went to the Blue Anchor last evening and had two pints of Middle which was very good. Has a red wine aroma and taste. I asked the barman if the beer was stored in wine barrels but he said no. Will return again tonight.

    My advice is 1. Put the hops in a bag with a weight (so they sit on the bottom) on day 4 of primary fermentation. 2. Leave the hops in the wort for 3 days. 3.     I've never had a successful brew with a MJ yeast

    When I first used MJ yeast it was very slow to get going but since I’ve used M31, M54 , M20 and M21 successfully.

    I’ve been drinking St Austell Mena Dhu stout which is fantastic. I intend to make some as St Austell publishes the ingredients, malts and hops. I have all of them except Smoked Malt, of which I will smoke some pale malt or buy it.
