Dry hopped beer should be consumed within 6 months

I shared a bottle of mikkeller/brewpigs cumulus humulus ('their most heavily hopped beer') at bottle shop, it was fantastic!! It was not cheap. I bought a bottle to share at my local pub but waited a few, possibly 4 months for suitable occasion, took it in, poured, very underwhelmed, seemed to...

Help with a Saison - ginger and orange

For what it's worth, I found using galangal rather than ginger worked best to give that ginger taste, added secondary. I chop up citrus bring to boil in pan then cool and chuck in. MB and lemondrop work wonderfully together.

    Monitoring leccy usage

Which is why you take readings for a week, then the brewday would show up, then the 6 hour switch off of beer equipment readings would be reasonably constant? Or you could do 4 separate 6 hour switch offs 12-6am 6am -12 & etc then work from there

    Monitoring leccy usage

Can't see what they would have to do with it? Or are they brewing too.? You don't need to switch off anything apart from your beer equipment.

    Monitoring leccy usage

Take meter readings on normal days then do brew take readings that should give brewday cost. Then turn off all beer equipment (fridges &etc) perhaps for a while ?6 hours? take meter readings before and after, should be able to get a reasonably good idea from that?

    Star San and distilled water

According to Fivestar the cloudiness is normally caused by hard water. And the test is pH 3.5 or below for effective use.

    Plate vs Counterflow chiller

Indeed it did, and even when clean the flow rate was poor, (even with pump not gravity)

    Plate vs Counterflow chiller

Had immersion, went to plate, had nothing but trouble, bought a CFC, wish I had started with that.

    Gluten Free NEIPA

Apparently Brewers Clarity (and other similar brands) are an enzyme that chops up the gluten into shorter strands making it acceptable for gluten intolerance but not for coeliacs. It's very easy to use. However coeliacs that I have talked to about GF beer say that they drink it ok.

    Blackpool

Isn't Capital Gains Tax just an income tax at a lower rate for those that have money? Why shouldn't it be at the same rate as income tax?

    Heriot-Watt Brewing and Distilling course

That does seem a lot to lose, presumably your using pellets? What dosage?

    Sterilizing

This is all that is necessary, see instructions on the tub. I must admit that I used 5 litres hot water with a tablespoon of VWP and all other bits go in the FV, airlocks, siphons, dry-hop bags, cleaning cloths.

Brewing my first beer for cask

If it's with established brewery then they will have to account for it, either charge you the duty or pay it themselves.

    Duty increase.

Its absolutely appalling the way it is written. The 'you must recalculate...' comes under examples! And I've just read 8.2 Alcohol Production Account, thats a new thing as well, most info already kept but previous production year’s actual production (to be recorded each month) makes little...

    Duty increase.

Yes, but it says nothing about doing it each year, just refers to specific year?
