What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Just trying the Love Brewing Chinook, well needed after a spot of gardening. Turned out nice, clear and enjoyable keeping it at a temperature is difficult without a Kegerator, used some ice packs leftover from Gusto, did the trick.

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Just trying the Love brewing Double Zombie, pretty strong came about 8% I’ve left it for a good while on the second fermentation in the king keg, tasted foul about three weeks ago, it’s really mellowed. First time with Godiva hops, all in all good ale although I wouldn’t session it! this review...

    Cold in the garage

Had a bit of a cold snap over the last few days, got two FV’s on the go, an APA grapefruit and a double hopped IPA, luckily I had some bubble wrap to keep them at 21 degrees, they’ve got a couple of days before dry hopping, made a hop tea to add to them, not tried it before, let’s see how it...

    Red Willow Brewery tour

Had a belting day out at Red Willow brewery, shown round by Tom who I have to say was fantastic, really interested in home brewing and really enthusiastic to what I’m doing, sent me home with some live yeast and some hops to boot. What a great day! Tasted so many great beers!

    Yeast issue

Hi all, any Buxton based members know where I can pick some west coast yeast up? I’m on a tour of Red Willow brewery today and need to pick some up to re-pitch, might be cheeky and ask the brewers? I had a heater fail fermenting, put a heat pad on and the yeast isn’t happy at all. Thanks in...

    Failed submerged heater

Hi all, I put two kits on yesterday, one using a heat belt and one with a submersible heater, heat belt one is happily bubbling away whilst the second ones heater has failed dropping to 10 degrees and no action, I’ve ordered a heat mat which is arriving today. My question is when I put the heat...

    Campden Tablets

Hi folks, I have been brewing kits for a couple of years with good results, I’ve always used tap water untreated, the water in Manchester is pretty soft, I’ve just picked up some Campden tablets to treat the water. Is it a worthwhile exercise? Does it make much difference to the taste? Thanks...
