    Thanks - I did decide to not bottle the last few liters to avoid any mold below the surface. I'll have to see what happens when I open the bottles..

    I had another look today before botteling, it's defo infected with furry bits on top :( Tasted bitter but not really sour, so I'll see what it's like once it's conditioned. I guess it's time for a new fermenter

    I suspect I had a batch that was still very yeasty and I was recomended to give it more time... and I've over done it.

    Hmm, i'll have a flick though my recipies and see when I extended it and see if I can tell why. I do normally cold crash and use finings too...

    This is the primary, I don't use a 2ndary.

    It's due to be bottled on Tuesday. I've increased the time in the fermenter to let yeast fall out.

    I realised I didn't update the tread. I ended up with a decent if a bit plan stout, could have done with something like vanilla to give it a bit more.

    It doesn't look like krausen to me. Though I've used a diffrent yeast than normal (verdant ipa) so could be a but diffrent. It doent smell bad, but doesn't really smell very beery. I tasted one and tasted ok. I guess I'll see what its like when I'm due to bottle it in 2 days... If it's sour I'll...

    So I've gone to dry hop may current batches but I think there both infected. Before I throw them away what do you think?

    Thanks, %age wise I'm not far off what I've been playing with. Clear choise 65.8% Flaked barky 8.2% ( I think this is too much) Roast barley 8.2% Carra munich 2 6.1% Wheat malt 4.3% ( ill get rid of this) Cholate malt 3.8% Specal b 2.2% Dark crystal 1.5%

    So I realised ive not followed up on this thread. So it turned out OK in the end, just too much cocoa powder that needed to settle. Though I've now got some choclate and roast malt so what recipies do people recommend?

    Yes I've found that you only get tracking details once its hit the mainland.
