    1 Barrel 'Pilot' Brewery required

Hi all, I was wondering if any of you kind people could point me in the direction of acquiring a 1 barrel pilot brewery? I'm looking to set up in my garage but am finding it hard locating anywhere online for equipment. I'd also consider building one myself... but even acquiring mash tun/boiler...

    Dry Hopping kit advice required...

Hi all, I started a Muntons Gold IPA kit off on Sunday... it fermented like the clappers over the first 2-3 days. I'm planning on siphoning it all off into a secondary fermenting bin on Sunday/Monday to add some Fuggles hops for a few days. How many days would you guys recommend dry-hopping in...

    Adding sugar for bottling/kegging

Hi all, Just a quick question here for when I come to bottling my beer which I'm currently brewing. I understand it is 1/2 teaspoon of sugar required per pint? What type of sugar do you recommend? Would normal caster sugar mixed in and boiled with water suffice? Also... I have heard from a few...

Taking gravity readings - your views

Hehe... yeh TS... now that is a sweet idea. Think I will use a baster for my next brew checks... for now though, I have left my hydrometer bobbing in the brew.

Taking gravity readings - your views

Thanks Wez. I hadn't thought about dropping the hydrometer in the FV so I could easily pop the lid and keep checking. That's a good tip... and one I have just followed... my brew has dropped to 1.016 in 4 days... it looked like it was still bubbling a bit, so maybe it will drop a bit more in the...

Taking gravity readings - your views

Hi all, I set off my first ever brew on Saturday, and it seems like it's got going nicely. However, I'm getting so so so tempted to take a sample out to test for a gravity reading... and also a little sip!! :drink: What I'm thinking about is how to do this. What is the best way to take...

My First Brew - Woodfordes Wherry

Sorry to keep asking fairly basic questions... How low can a gravity reading go during fermentation? Could it realistically go to 1.000? :wha:

My First Brew - Woodfordes Wherry

Hmmm.... thanks for the reply jamesb. I haven't a clue what temperature it was when I took the reading. I had just topped up with cold tap water, so I doubt it was 20 degrees. Oh well - looks like I will just have to see how it goes!

My First Brew - Woodfordes Wherry

Hi all, I'm completely new to this lark, and Saturday just gone, I kicked off my first ever brew. It's the Woodfordes Wherry beer kit. It seemed to have some good reviews and is simple for a novice like me! 3 days in, and everything is looking good. The yeast seems to have kicked off...
