How can I get a good pint from a pressure barrel?

I have one and I just pour very slowly. Otherwise you just end up with a flat pint. The is a YouTube video where someone has just attached a short piece of hose to the tap, it seems to work but I haven't tried it myself.

    Vinegar anyone.

So vinegar is basically gone-off beer/wine/cider?

    Woodfordes, Sundew Review

My kits have tasted very upon bottling, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Likewise, drinking after 2 weeks does not give you much insight to the final product. Try it after 4 but don't expect to guzzle on it until at least 6 weeks in.

    Ribena Wine

Sampled these yesterday, 3.5 weeks in the bottle. The strawberry is now very drinkable, SWMBO has alrerady claimed them. The Blackcurrant is a little disappointing in comparison, tastes like a cheap red wine (can only get better!).

    St Peters Golden Ale review

Very pleased with this. I bottled mine about 5 weeks ago and it's just about there (tried a sample 10 days ago and it had me worried). What's better, I let a friend try it with no explanation and he said "it tastes like the one you can buy in the fancy green bottles". That'll be St Peter's...

Advice on a couple of homebrews I've got going.

Could it be that the bottle caps weren't quite secure? Assuming that you prmed all of the bottles in the same way I cannot see why else you'd get some fizzy and some flat.

    Ribena Wine

6 bottles of Strawberry & 6 bottles of blackberry Ribena bottled at the weekend. They'd been in for about 5 weeks or so and activity had ground to a halt so i assumed they were done. Took the FG on bottling and it appears they weren't quite there - 1.10 & 1.00 respectively (expected 0.90...

    St Peters Golden Ale review

Mine was bottled at the weekend - got 45 bottles full though so I clearly went a bit overboard. Hopefully it won't affect it too much. Still got it inside (although it's probably warm enough in the garage). It seems to be fairly clear already! Planning on leaving it until August for our...

    Kettle elements

Leads for the Asda kettle elements arrived today. There is a small lip on the element fitting that needs to be removed. Once that's gone, jobs a good'un. No messing about with wiring required.

    Woodfordes Wherry Review

My Wherry is just over 6 weeks in the keg and it's a surprisingly good pint. I had severy pressure issues along the way too, which I thought would ruin it. I've even had a couple of people taste it, to make sure I'm not using my rose-tinted specs, and they liked it too. Half the barrel is...

    Kettle elements

I plan to just buy a kettle lead off eBay. Won't they fit?

    Strawberry Ribena Wine

A little over 2 weeks in, still bubbling away nicely. FWIW, my instructions did not tell me to boil the syrup at all.

    St Peters Golden Ale review

I'm about to order one of these kits. I like the supermarket version (on offer in Tesco express  ) and the reviews for the kit seem to be very good. One question - what is "dry hopping"? I've seen it suggested to do this instead of sing the hop sachet provided.

    Ribena Wine

I kept mine in the kitchen where it is fairly cool but the fermentation struggled to get going. Moved it to the airing cupboard and it's now bubbling along nicely.

    Strawberry Ribena Wine

My two OG were 1120 & 1130. Like a div, I didn't write them down so I'm not sure which was which. I'm assuming the Strawberry was the higher one as the Sugar content in the syrup was more than the blackcurrant.

    Strawberry Ribena Wine

It looks like we were doing the same thing yesterday! I made a DJ of strawberry and one of regular Ribena. The recipe I used didn't have citric acid though - what does it do?

    Ribena Wine

With the wherry well on its way I thought I'd give this a go. SWMBO has just about finished her wine so there are plenty of DJs lying around unused. Tesco have litre bottles of Ribena for £1.49 so I picked up a blackcurrant and a strawberry. Not sure whether to just make one blackcurrant and...

    Transporting a King Keg

The instructions that came with the Keg specifically say to not get the valve wet. I just took it off when I sterilised the lid. Having thought about it I think they may just be being over-cautious as it seems some cleaners/sterilisers can corode the rubber bands and seals.
