    Simon's Brewery Build

Thanks Simon. There's no need for a picture, that describes it well enough for me to understand. I'm ok with most things, but not this electrickery lark! :wha:

    Simon's Brewery Build

Sorry, I could have been more clear...I mean how they are wired at the element end.

    Simon's Brewery Build

Simon - do you have any pictures, or can you provide an explanation of how exactly you have wired the elements? I have just purchased the same elements for my brewery, and I'd like to show my electrician friend how you've done yours so he has an idea of how to wire mine!

Value Kettle Elements v 'Proper' elements

Does anyone have any experience/opinions of the differences between using value kettle elements versus 'proper' elements designed for immersion heaters/wall mounted heaters from somewhere like the heating element company? The reason I ask is because of the massive difference in price - £20...

    Shiny false bottom V plastic

Does anyone have any opinions on 2mm v 1mm holes in the perforated sheets? According to the ebay supplier, 2mm holes gives a 40% open area, compared to 23% for the 1mm holes. Obviously 1mm will allow less debris to escape than 2mm, but I'm worried about flow-rate and stuck mash's. Is grain...

    Calling All false Bottom Builders

Or you could just buy the overbraid on its own? This is what I am considering for my build.... It's sold for mainly automotive purposes - i.e. so boy racers can make their engines look pretty  http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=stainless+overbraid What are the advantages/disadvantages...

    Another pot size question

It's been a while - but after a bit of overtime came my way this month, I've ordered my shiny pots today  I went for 2 x 100L stockpots and a 70L thermos in the end, the philosophy being that I'd rather spend the few extra quid and only half fill them than end up wishing I had got...

    Another pot size question

Why is the boiler size a concern with smaller batches? I plan to use a counterflow chiller for cooling the wort as it drains to the FV, so there are no issues with wort depth.... Edit:...is it a depth at finish thing? ie the electric elements being exposed with only 5gallon final volume as a...

    Another pot size question

dammit!.....I was all set for a 70/50/70 combo until I read this. IPA's are my favourite. Why does the heavy hopping of IPA's effect the boiler size needed? I'm new to AG.... Hmmm.....maybe a 100/80/100 is better anyway......this is for life, not just for christmas :hmm:

    Another pot size question

I'm just designing my first AG brewery, and it's going to based around Nordic pots. I know this gets asked a lot, but I'm wondering about sizes - specifically the size of the mash tun. I've spent the last hour or so searching these forums, and I think I'm even more confused than when I started...

    Hello from Shropshire

Hi guys. I've been reading these forums loads for the last few days, and so I thought it was about time I said hello! I've been brewing for the last couple of years, but only from kits. I've decided that it's time for me to step it up a notch, and so I'm looking at moving into all-grain over...
