    lagers...

I had brewed 4 lagers under pressure - 3 with a lager yeast and 1 with a Kolsch - all turned our great with just 10 days fermentation at 10 to 20psi (the first I did higher and went lower as I did more). All 4 were brilliant beers that I got great feedback on. Then a few weeks ago I brewed an...

    Klarstein Mundschenk

Just to add to this thread, I'm still brewing on my Klarstein maischfest - if I could have afforded something fanicer I would have - but it seemed a good price at the time. I remain really happy with it - I run a brew club with a friend who has a peco boiler and a grain father - while the...

    What next

I think the 'problem' this the lager kits is not the tinned wort, but brewing with an ale yeast at ale temps will never give you a proper clean lager beer. I made the wilko one once of twice and it was certainly drinkable, but I wouldn't call it 'great'. If you can temp control you could do...

    Equipment Wanted Beer engine

I wouldn't worry too much about an eBay one to be fair, there isn't much to go wrong with them and they are pretty easy to service or repair. Usually it is just the rubber/silicone washers that go, or the tubing cracks - but good to replace the pipes that you can if they are older, anyway. Not...

REVIEW - Inkbird alternative on Amazon

Currently unavailable - but looks good!

    Hop filter

Yeah - getting the bits out of the spider is a pain, but I'm so used to it now - fast better than loads of hops in the final beer - an tired hops bags a few times, but found bone dry hops in the middle of them at the end.

    Corny Keg

Hey, yes the beer will keep carbonation, though make sure you keep topping up with gas to serve - otherwise you'll just get flatter beer as you serve if you don't keep adding some - I add at about 5psi for serving. I don't leave connected to gas the rest of the time as I'm fearful of leaks! I...

Help, 1st attempt, do i need to ditch my beer.

One more vote for bottling it and seeing how it tastes. I'm guessing you'll end up with at very least drinkable beer, but likely even better than that. Let us know how it goes.

    Better Brew Bandit Brew Clearing

Sorry, I see this in the kit subforum - the cloudiness could be yeast but you'd expect that to drop out over time. It could be an infection but assuming it tastes OK?

    Better Brew Bandit Brew Clearing

Is it a canned kit, or a partial or a full grain kit?

    Getting back into the Hobby…..

I've not bothered with yeast nutrient for years and never had any issues (though can't hurt to add some).

Nice one - I love the speed of a kit - hope it tastes great!

converting coopers lager to extract or partial mash

Sounds great - not sure about cascade in a lager - but I love cascade so I'd give it a go! Recipes sound good - let me me know how you get on.

    Starting my second brew

Sure will be fine once bottled and set to condition for a bit - I've left beer in the fermenter ages sometimes, and was all drinkable!

    Feedback please

Any reason for the golden syrup? Aiming for a high OG? I'd go for something like 3.5kg MO, 1kg crystal, and 500g wheat. For a 20l batch at about 4.5% How much hops were you looking to use?

converting coopers lager to extract or partial mash

Hi, so are you saying you'd still use the can, but add dme or liquid malt? Or do you want to recreate a similar beer from a extract or partial.

    Getting back into the Hobby…..

Good to have you back! I can't recommend a lager kit sorry, been years for me, but the wilko kit was OK not great. But that could have been my poor brewing skills - I think it was the first or second kit I did. Did you pick one up? Got it fermenting yet?

    Klarstein Brauheld pro 35ltr

This seems to suggest they are good Klarstein Brauheld Pro Mash Kettle If I had the cash and one was for sale at that price near me, I'd get one (but very happy with my basic klarstein maischfest)

Would you swap your all in one?

I have the klarstein maischfest - I'd be very happy with a 'better' machine, but there is no way I'm buying one until this dies. It makes great beer, people made beer for centuries without recirculating pumps, so I'm sure I can manage. They had one of their fancier machines in sale at some...

    Fan assisted beer

I do no chill and pop either my brew bucket (or keg is I'm pressure fermenting) in a big bucket with a few inches of water and a wet towel over. I leave it in the garden for the night, and always gets low enough to pitch. (my other tip is that as soon as my wort is up to boiling temp, I draw...
