    Idoits guide to Ribena/Strawberry wine?

I haven't. To be honest, I prefer not to 'mess' with my wines! I usually ferment all right out and sweeten later if required.

    Idoits guide to Ribena/Strawberry wine?

I started a batch of this on the 10th October. It fermented vigorously for a couple of weeks before settling down. Now, a month later i'm still getting airlock activity, around one bubble a minute. Is this normal??

Mead: Make Now For Christmas Drinking!

I started a batch a few days ago. Used some oranges and also added some cloves as I had some lying around. Smells absolutely amazing!

Mead: Make Now For Christmas Drinking!

I really want to give this a go, but am very nervous about making anything sparkling at the moment. I'm terrified of having a bottle blow up in my face! Can this be made none carbonated? Use a regular yeast and Potassium Sorbate when the job is done? Would it affect the flavour much?

    My Progress so far!

    Hazy pineapple wine

J J Berry's recipe called for 6 pineapples I think, all boiled up. The whole lot smelled delicious! The wine it has made tastes very good, extremely fruity and strong but as stated I can't get it to clear which is a shame. Have added some pectolase now as advised so we will wait and see.

    Hazy pineapple wine

Hi Moley, it's been around 2 1/2 weeks since I added the finings (the sachet stuff at Wilko's). I've had a slight fluffy looking sediment form, but the wine remains cloudy. I didn't use any Pectolase at the time as JJ's recipe didn't specify it. I do have some now though but I thought it had to...

    Hazy pineapple wine

I followed the recipe in C J J Berry's book for pineapple wine. All went well but it refuses to clear. I left it standing in a cool place, tried adding finings but it remains hazy. Pineapple Wine by Coolsox, on Flickr Are there any other trick I can try? If not, can it be drunk / stored cloudy?

Just had my very first ever bottle!

This weekend I opened a bottle of my first ever home made wine. It was the strawberry kit from Wilkinsons. I started it around 23rd November 2010 and I followed the instruction to the letter. I remember being very disappointed when I had my first taste (about 4 weeks after it was started - the...

    How to use fermentation stopper

Sorry, I should have been precise, it was a small plastic pot! The contents are exactly as you describe. Couldn't have described them any better! I did try wilkinsons on several occasions, but they didn't appear to have any in stock.

    How to use fermentation stopper

Thanks all, I wasn't sure if it was a different to what everyone else was using. Just got my first sip as well, slightly sweet but fruity and very strong! I look forward to the first glass!

    How to use fermentation stopper

Hi all,my first post and hopefully not a thick question! My second ever batch of wine (C J Berry Pineapple recipe) is ready to be siphoned into a clean jar. The recipe says to add 1 crushed campden tablet and 1 teaspoon of Potassium sorbate at this time. My first batch was made from a kit so...
