how many meters of coil should i use in a asparagus steamer for my hermes my first thoughts were 5 meters but there is no way that is going to fit in there, are there any pics of how you have done yours because i am a bit confused i recon that i would only coil 2 meters in there at a push this...

i was going to program the pid to keep the the temperature at say 66c wile i am recirculating the wort i will have pt100 in the outlet does this sound ok or am i missing something ahh penny just droped i see what you mean now if i am not recirculating the pid will just keep on heating :oops:

the pid should stop that happening :D

another problem i have is i am thinking an element with safety cut out would be ok because it will never reach boiling am i correct

yes i am i have 3 pids coming i know what i want to do but just not sure how yet i want to control the HLT element with the first pid which will have the HERMS coil and monitor the mash temp with another pid while i recirculate between mash tun and HLT, then switch over and control the boil...

i have two coming tomorrow postage is a good price as well
