    All grain fruit beers

That looks top! thanks for that. Will definitely add that onto the to-do list. From what I can tell looking around the interweb, it's just a case of racking post fermentation into a second FV with an ample amount of fruit in. Simple as that?? What would be the idea base beer to use? Would...

    All grain fruit beers

Hello All, Looking to try making a small batch of AG with added fruit, and after any recommendations/recipes/ideas that people here have had any success with. I've seen mentions in other posts about using concentrates, syrups, tinned fruit all sorts. Whatcha all got! Cheers, James

    Corny tap/reg recommendations

Hello All, Finally bought my first Corny. I only picked it up as I needed to make the difference up for some free delivery on grains  Could anyone recommend a good tap and co2 regulator? A kegerator is the project for next spring, so for now the Corny will be serving at garage...

Testing a pressure barrel for leaks?

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps. Will have a go at testing it this weekend.

Testing a pressure barrel for leaks?

I did think at first about doing something like filling it with cheap sparkling water and pumping a bulb of CO2. But the coke/mentos method sounds inspired, not to mention cheap.

Testing a pressure barrel for leaks?

Hello All, After a few brews worth of bottling, I want to stick the next batch into my old PB. It's one of the standard 2" cap ones. I've not used it in over a year, and would like to test it for air leaks before committing 40 pints of liquid gold to it. Does anyone have any cunning...

Festival Golden Stag, a definite long-termer

I brewed up a Festival Golden Stag kit around April time. At the time I waited until it had finished in the primary, then dry hopped into the FV for 5 days. Flavour at time of bottling was disappointing, incredibly bitter, almost undrinkably so. Bottled anyway, and left for a month...

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

Well the kit has turned up today. Pretty much as one would expect. Included are: 1x Grain pack 3x Hop packs 1x Vanilla pod 1x S04 yeast So yes, probably a bit on the pricey side compared to getting the stuff in individually (lesson learned for the next few brews) but on the whole I am happy...

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

She's not allowed to. It was her that bought me a Wherry kit a few years ago and got me into it!

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

I'm tempted to get the stuff for Clibit's recipe now and get cracking on it as soon as the FV is empty.

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

I did read Clibit's thread with great interest, and was going to look at trying his recipe for a simple SmASh brew too.

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

That's exactly what I was hoping for. I think as has been said, probably a bit more pricey for what they are, but seems like a really good intro to small batch AG. Can't wait to get cracking.

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

If it does indeed come with that amount of hops, then quids in! Shove them in the freezer for the future.

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

Yes, the cost is a lot steeper, however I am only planning to cut my AG teeth with them (get to grips with the methods whilst not worrying yet about the quantities). But after a couple of brews I really want to get into smaller 1 to 2 gallon batches from recipe.

Stove Topper kits. Anyone tried one?

Hello all, I have only recently discovered the possibilities of doing AG brews at home on a small scale. This suits me for a number of reasons: -I live in a small flat in London -40 pints takes me months to get through, I like the variety that small-batch production will have. -I can...

    Dispensing a fine stout

Hello All, I am looking to get a St Peters Cream Stout on over the next few weeks, giving plenty of conditioning time before Christmas (I like to make sure I have a good stout ready through December each year). Last year I had a Coopers treacle stout on the go, with 12 pints bottled and the...

First Coopers stout. Fermantation stopped short.

Thanks for the replies. If hydrometer reads the same tomorrow I'll bottle/barrel it. Got 12 bottles and the rest in the keg. Planning to prime with dark muscovado sugar

First Coopers stout. Fermantation stopped short.

What does your ABV work out at Proost?

First Coopers stout. Fermantation stopped short.

My first idea was to give it a gentle stir, in case there is still some syrupy goodness at the bottom of the FV. Looking at the 'Stuck Fermentation' sticky post, it does suggest trying to give it a very light stir. in this case, would you avoid stirring up the sludge at the bottom, or is that...

First Coopers stout. Fermantation stopped short.

Hi All, I currently have my first Coopers Stout in the FV. Made as follows: Half Campden tablet in the water 3/4 tin of treacle 1kg Extra dark DME Made up to 21 litres. Pitched the yeast at 24 degrees c, using an immersion heater in the FV thermostatically set at 24. Although my stick...
