Have you made any progress Simon? Weââ¬â¢ve just had an offer accepted to lease a shop in Ironbridge. Any advice from what youââ¬â¢ve learned so far?
Do you struggle with a 2l starter in a 2l flask? Mine has enough space in the neck that itââ¬â¢s fine during the boil (using anti foam kind you) and during ferment.
In that case, carb up as you normally would as soon as you bottle (it may take longer than usual due to lagering dropping more yeast out) and then once carbed move somewhere cold.
Brewing related I got a hop rocket and a hard copy of diy dog. The hop rocket I asked for and whilst I would never have paid for DIYDog myself itââ¬â¢s a worthy addition to my brewing books.
You shoukd ferment for as long as it takes to hit fg plus a 2 day diactyl rest...2 weeks is a reasonable rule of thumb but it isnââ¬â¢t a rule and more often than not, beer is finished well within that time. Dry hopping complicates this a little but generally adding the dry hop time to the...
Iââ¬â¢ve seen this recommended lods but for the life of me Iââ¬â¢ve never worked out how to slow the Sparge down, the water seems to flow through at the speed it decides!
89% brewhouse? :shock: You use a GF right? I get about 73% on a good day but if I was doing such a strong brew I reckon thatââ¬â¢d drop to about 70!
I think the low temp will mean the beer is fine, the yeast will be having a snooze and Iââ¬â¢ve found hop extraction is much less at lower temps. Iââ¬â¢ve had a stout in my fv for a month which is a lot longer than i usually have anything in there for but Iââ¬â¢m not concerned...
