Metal bits in Robo Brew? Help!

Yes, I agree and its strange that any bits from the original machining would still be coming put of the coil after it's been used in so many brews since I bought the RB. The mystery remains unsolved...!

Metal bits in Robo Brew? Help!

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I brewed a beer on Saturday - all new grain from a recent order (but from my regular supplier). I found one more hoop or ring when filling the robobrew with the mash water, but nothing during the clean-up or left in the RB after the clean (which is where l...

Metal bits in Robo Brew? Help!

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps. I'll open ul the bottom and see if I can see anything obviously wrong. My worry is that if it's the pump, there will be no way of telling without completely dismantling it - and that's beyond my skills. I do crush my own grain. I have an old Bulldog Malt...

Metal bits in Robo Brew? Help!

I think the hose gun might be a red herring as I just remembered that i changed the gun to an older hose nozzle before the last brew. Just checked the hoops with a magnet and they're not magnetic. I don't use the BZ for anything else.

Metal bits in Robo Brew? Help!

Usually at the weekend, probably mostly on a Saturday. I'm on hols this week so thought I'd make the most of a rainy day. Why?

Metal bits in Robo Brew? Help!

I've only found them at the start of a brew but also not ever checked that hard after the final clear up. the only things stored in the RB between brews are the different brew parts: pump arm, chiller coil, false bottom, hop spider etc. The RB is stored in its original box in my garage. Nothing...

Metal bits in Robo Brew? Help!

Just starting a brew in my Brewzilla Robo Brew and noticed these tiny metal hoops in the bottom of the kettle. This is the second time I've found these. Last time I noticed some after filling the kettle to heat the mash water. I removed those with a sieve and thought they might have come from...

    Show us your brew space/Bar

Move the GF upstairs for the brew and drill a hole in the kitchen ceiling for an easy gravity fed transfer!

    No chill

Question for everyone who transfers hot wort to the FV and pitches the next day when cool: Do you aerate the wort when cool before adding the yeast (or is enough oxygen added in the hot transfer)?

Why does my mash smell like pizza?

Showing my brewing lack of knowledge, but what's the benefit of spraying the malt with water before mashing?

    New St Peter's kit announced

Plum Porter is finally in the bottle! Left it an extra week in the FV hoping to get the gravity down a little further. It dropped an extra couple of points over the final week but still ended quite high at 1012. Should be alright but I've only primed with 1/4 tsp of sugar in each bottle just...

    New St Peter's kit announced

That's a sensible aversion. I'm not keen mowing the lawn when the grass is wet! 😄

    New St Peter's kit announced

I had the same problem with condensation but rigging a simple chimney has been really effective - the windows don't even steam up anymore.

    New St Peter's kit announced

Took a sample of mine yesterday but it's only dropped to 1018. Hoping it's just slow rather than stuck as I've fermented at a slightly cool 19 degrees. I've increased the temp to 20.5 to help it along. I wasn't too sure of the smell when it went in the fermenter (very plummy), but the sample...

    Stout with Kveik Yeast

I made an Imperial Stout last October with Kveik Voss hoping its wonder powers would help it cope with the high alcohol and speed up the conditioning. It dealt with the fermentation brilliantly but even fermenting at cooler temps (25c) produced quite a sharp/acidic taste (what others describe as...

    Guinness Nitro Surge

😂 I didn't read the reviews! Should be more careful what i link. No recommendation or endorsement intended!

    Guinness Nitro Surge

Yes, there's a lot of ultra sonic gadgets sold as beer frothers, but i suppose the crucial difference is they're agitating the co2 rather than the nitrogen that Guinness is adding into the surger cans. This looks like a similar concept to the Guinness gadget but just working with the co2 in...

    Guinness Nitro Surge

Guinness say the device only works with their surger cans but has anyone tried it with a normal can of stout? I guess it won't be quite as effective, but would it give any improvement? Keen to see i could pour my home brewed imperial stout through it.

    New St Peter's kit announced

Well, the St Peters Plum Porter kit went into the fermenter this afternoon. This is the first kit I've done in a long time, but I've never been able to find any good all grain recipes that can replicate any of my favourite plummy commercial beers: Titanic Plum Porter, St Peters Plum Porter...

    Kveik

Hey MrJay - update on my Kveik RIS: I opened a bottle over Christmas and it's definitely improved but the sharpness from the yeast is still there. It perfectly drinkable, but for me the acidity that the Kveik has introduced doesn't suit a RIS and I didn't give any bottles out at Christmas. I'm...
