Is it all worth it ? I need convincing.

Thanks, the kits have all been the cheaper ones so I guess that must be part of the problem though I did use some of the light spray malt from wilko's to try to improve some of the later attempts, thinkl I've got 60 odd bottles in the garage at the mo so will prob be a while before I do another...

Is it all worth it ? I need convincing.

Thanks, I may have to move operations to the summerhouse or garage myself so I guess I could just buy a 100w one rather than 2x50w

Not sure wether I'm maybe expecting too much tbh. I'm not expecting mainstream quality but if I'm honest I dont really relish the thought of cracking one open after work, I guess i'll give it another go with better temp control.

So the aquarium heater has a built in thermostat I suppose ? Someone else did suggest this but only as a method to cool.

"Have you been maintaining a constant target temperature for the yeast?" No, Ive just let nature run its course to be fair so it must have been up and down, day and night I suppose. I had thought about the temp thing but keep getting told off for spending money "I thought this was supposed to...

Is it all worth it ? I need convincing.

May have been a tad warm I think perhaps I'll try another being a bit more anal with the temp. Havn't looked at anything further than kits tbh and not too sure on all the acronyms (all grain I think, boil in a bag ? 3v? god knows) but cant really see the better half approving any way. I just...

Is it all worth it ? I need convincing.

So I guess I've done five or six kits now with varying success ranging from perfectly drinkable to the downright awfull (Gluten free), Ive tried a variety of lagers an bitters using all the reccomended ingredients I think. The problems I have are whilst they are drinkable I cant help but feel...

    Lager in pressure keg

So as per usual after not taking peoples advice I have a keg of not very fizzy but not too bad tasting lager which I'm now contemplating adding some more sugar and bottling it. Will it work please knowledgeable people or will the yeast have settled and not fizz it up?

    Lager in pressure keg

Yeah, I did buy all the bottling gear to make life easier but as I wasn't sure wether the hot weather was gonna muck this lot up thought I'd save the bottles for the next batch. It's all in the keg now so will see how it turns out in a few weeks Ta

    Lager in pressure keg

Aaaaand I just bought some wilko's spray malt, did I read somewhere this can be added now at the second stage or is it just for primary fermentation??

    Lager in pressure keg

All the info I've found non this generally recommends not to bother and bottle it instead due to not enough carbonation so I was wondering if anyone does it? Its for a gathering so will get drunk in one afternoon and I have plenty of co2 to keep the pressure up. What do ya think??

    Is it too warm

Sounds good, maybe I'll give it a go but would have to set it up in the summerhouse or garage due to limited space in the house.

    Is it too warm

Well it's all kicked off now so fingers crossed it'll be ok, I'll just have to move it about to try and keep the temp down as there's zero chance of me putting a special fridge in (she's already got the hump with all my brewing gear as it is). So Lager uses a different yeast and needs to be...

    Is it too warm

    Is it too warm

Someone on another site suggested giving the whole bin an ice bath so I'm giving that a go. Ta

    Is it too warm

Sorry this is prob answered somewhere else here but still finding my way around. I've just added all the ingredients together from a wilko's pilsner kit and am a bit concerned its too warm to add the yeast at 26 degrees. What should do ? Just wait, add it now or is there an easy way to...
