El Cheapo the Boiler blew today!

I'd maybe give them a call as I had an email from them when I was after one to say they were back in stock but that note on the website hasn't changed, but yes I would only buy from them as the reseller mark up is to high for my tastes.

El Cheapo the Boiler blew today!

In my experience the basic computer leads blow their fuses long before they have a chance to get hot, but eitehr way they don't work and well worth the few quid for a hot plug lead. Again Elements and cables direct from Peco Services are pretty cheap and good quality.

    DIYDog 2017

Never got around to making anything from the last release but it was a good read to see the recipes, look forward to actually making something from this version.

    Peco boiler as mash tun

Just insulate the boiler and you'll be fine, mine is a layer of silver backed bubble sheet and a thin foam mat, I lost about 1deg on a 7deg air temp day over the course of a 60 min mash. I'd post an image but my iPad is being a dick, look for my First BIAB brew day thread and you'll see what I...

    Syphon or Tap

Going back to this one, is there a way to tell before syphoning as my Auto Syphon does suffer sometimes from this. For example my current brew had been at the same FG for three days before I racked it off into the barrel but as it got to about 2/3 into the transfer it starts being more bubble...

    Klarstein mash kettle- worth getting?

Having recently been through the many options of kit for moving to All Grain BIAB myself have you considered one of these kit deals http://www.geterbrewed.com/basic-biab-starter-kit-kit-brewers-upgrade/ There is almost an identical kit from HBC as well both have forum discounts and are great...

    Nasty Pressure Barrel

It's just a few spots, but with only a narrow neck I can't get my hand inside, I think it can be saved but advice on what solutions I could use to fully kill any bugs would be great.

    Syphon or Tap

After another ****ty session with my auto syphon today I'm going to just use a tap from now on. Never keeps a constant syphon or gets to the end if the wort without filling full of air, so tap and tube from now on for me.

    Nasty Pressure Barrel

So I grabbed my Pressure Barrel today to get it ready and the damn thing is mouldy in places, the tap I can replace cheaply enough but what's the best way to clean the barrel itself and kill any nasties lurking within?

    First BIAB Brew Day

Well it's 9 days in the FV now, looks like primary has completed, will take another reading on Sunday, but it's sat at 1.010 at the moment, reasonably clear and tastes very nice indeed. Just mulling over a cold crash before transfer to secondary in a PB or just transfer, I've done both in the...

    First BIAB Brew Day

Thanks, something to consider for the next brew, think most of the clogging came from the pellets not the leaf.

    First BIAB Brew Day

I have been considering getting some hop bags for the next one.

    First BIAB Brew Day

It did seem to go well, for me good planning was key for a smooth day leaving me free for any issues that may have occurred. The only major issue was the clogged false bottom meaning I had to resort to the jug and sieve after only 7 litres had made it through the tap. Although all a good...

    First BIAB Brew Day

I have moved through kits, partial extract and stove top 1 Gallon All Grain brewing but hadn't brewed anything for a while, but Christmas brought me 2 x full All Grain recipe kits. This will be a bit of a record for me, so quite a basic write up :thumb: Today was Brew day after buying my...

    Peco Boiler Tap Upgrade

Cheers, looks good, not too bad a price for a complete unit as well, I think the current hole is 21 mm but I'll have to check.

    Peco Boiler Tap Upgrade

Looking to swap out the tap on my Peco for a ball valve type, can someone who has done this point me at what I need from Screw Fix, or similar DIY establishment, to buy and fit the tap. I can see various taps and tank connectors, but unsure on best size and whether any additional pipe work is...
