    Youngs American IPA

I'm drinking this now and it's superb, it's my favorite kit to date by far and I am already planning to redo it straight away as I don't want to run out of it. I cold crashed it also for 24 hours down to 0.5ºc before racking and with careful pouring it produces a really nice clear drink. It's...

    Masterpint czech pilsener, anyone?

I have it cold crashing as we speak, should be racking it later this week. I swapped the yeast it shipped with for Mangrove Jack's M84 and I'm using the "Quick Lagering" method to brew it. I'll report back once I know how it has turned out.

    First time bottling

Batch Prime as others have said. If you using reclaimed bottles and they are mixed heights, you'll find it easier to fill similar height ones together, then cap, just saves some time moving the head up and down on the bench capper each time. Don't forget to sterilise your bottle caps (I just...

    brewbarrel Munich pale ale

I've not sorry, I've not tried the MPA either. Youngs American IPA is my newest "almost" ready to drink beer and it's looking very promising (had crafty taster a couple of days ago), that's a popular premium kit.

    brewbarrel Munich pale ale

It's turned out really nice, slightly darker than a traditional IPA, the alcohol note was a little overpowering early on along with green apple but leaving for almost 2 months to condition in the bottle has produced something which is now really balanced and tasty.

    Russian Imperial Stout

Yes it blew off a little, I did not have a tube fitted, it was not bad, it was just overnight, I wiped down the outside of the FV and replaced the airlock with a clean one, although the jacket I am using to insulate it with will need a wash once it's racked :smile6: I'm not sure if I've gone...

    Russian Imperial Stout

I started this 2 days ago, pretty much stuck to the Coopers Recipe apart from I subbed 500g of the Dextrose for the same amount of Extra Dark Spray Malt (because I had some), it has taken off like a rocket! Just 18 hours in and the airlock is bubbling like mad.

    Young's American IPA Kit.

Sounds completely normal, I would just leave this alone for at least 2 weeks. I have this kit cold crashing as we speak, it was definitely one of those kits that took a long time to ferment, mine chugged away for 17 days before it slowed and I dry hopped.

    Youngs American IPA

I’ve had this in the FV @ 21• for 16 days now and it’s still chugging away, currently @ 10.008. I’m not sure how much lower it can go but I don’t want to dry hop whilst there is still a lot of CO2 coming off it.

    Trub PH

I really hope this is not a stupid question, but does anyone know if the leftover Trub after fermentation is more Acidic, Alkali or Maybe Neutral? I tend to ditch mine around the garden on various beds, the wife is the gardener and she was asking me, as apparently her Raspberry Bed only like...

    Muntons vs Coopers

I've just bottled (yesterday) Munton's Black Conkerwood Ale, I had a stuck fermentation (10.020) and had to repitch yeast to get it going again (after exhausting all other avenues), I believe this is quite common with some Munton's kits, after researching it. I've also done the St Peters Cream...

Stuck Brew and allowing for non fermentables

Well despite the higher than I would have liked FG (10.018 in the end), this has actually turned out to be a really nice tasting and clear beer, great head retention and lacing. I've racked it to a PB and dry hoped it in the PB (Bag & Marbles) with 15G each of Cascade & Citra Pellets which has...

    Youngs American IPA

This went in the FV last night, it's chugging away like good-en already. Really looking forward to this one.

    Muntons Old Conkerwood

I was thinking of using 20g of Citra & 20g of Cascade mainly because that is what I have, not sure if that would work.

    disheartened

Could you not do a Good Quality Kit, that way if turns out fine you can eliminate Fermenting, Racking and Conditioning and you can focus on your Mashing.

    Muntons Old Conkerwood

How did you get on with this? I have it in the FV today, I was looking to dry hop it before bottling as I like things a little hoppy, I wasn't sure what to dry hop it with though.

Stuck Brew and allowing for non fermentables

Thank you, yes I used the yeast that came with the kit and I repitched with Young's Brew Active Yeast (1 tsp) Thank you, that's what I was looking for, I used the yeast that came with the Inn Keepers Daughter kit. Thank you Terry.

Stuck Brew and allowing for non fermentables

Thank you, I did look on there originally and could not find a calculator that allowed for NonFermentables or NonFermentables by name, I've just looked again and have gone through them and still can't, not sure if I am just missing the obvious, would you have a direct link to it please Terry, TY

Stuck Brew and allowing for non fermentables

Thank you, as for the FV I think I mostly manage a good seal, I use those wine ones with the screw caps, where I Vaseline the ring seals. I was still wondering though if anyone knew how to calculate the Gravity offset of Unfermentables? TIA

Stuck Brew and allowing for non fermentables

14 days ago I put Coopers Inn Keeper's Daughter with 1kg Spraymalt Light + 1kg Coppers Brew Enhancer 3 in the FV @18ºc SG 10.052 (22L) it started well and there was a lot of activity for about 4 days after 8 Days I checked the Gravity and it was 10.020 with no apparent activity in the airlock...
