    airlock question from a newbie

    Welcome to the forum F :thumb: The little red push on cap should really be on, C02 can still escape past it as it's not airtight, it's meant to prevent large things from entering the air trap, flies etc. It can be left off if you want ;)

    Agreed re the extra element, a couple of questions 56ltr, is this a tea urn with a safety cut out? if not a tea urn does the element have a safety cut out fitted? If either of the above that will explain the lack of rolling boil, if not just under rated.
