    Hi, I've recently found a youngs pale ale kit in my cupboard but the yeast is out of date by 2 years. I cannot find that precise US WEST COAST Yeast so can anyone offer advice. Its potential has to be 5.6ABV Thanks, Tony

    My coopers family secret ale has stopped at 1010. its beer brewing well for 7 days but has suddenly stopped.ive added half a cup of sugar solution to it because it also tastes quite dry. This surprised me because I started with 1 kg of sugar for a 40 pint kit. Any ideas please.

    Thanks once again. The link gave me a good idea how hard I need to it it. I might just use a rubber hammer though. I have a tap fitted to the fv. I soaked it in sterilising solution be for I lay the been down.

    Yeah i think my wife is taking the lid off and slipping a little every now and then! I got the crowncapper and tops as well as the brewing kit for fathers day and also need some tips on how hard to hit it with a hammer, can you help? Tony

    My problem is most likely temp, does it matter if it takes 5 weeks to 1.00 or thereabouts? My feeling is if the fvis sealed then it cannot spoil. What do you think Coll and Clbit? Tony

    A lot of members suggested a hydrometer but although helpful no one really offered any guidance even though I did supply the reading at the start of the brew and yesterday. Maybe I am in the wrong forum? Any ideas guys? Tony

    Thanks a million guys and I can confirm the reading at the start was 1.04 and its currently 1.02. I don't think I can offer anyone a 2% beer can I? From what your all saying I think I should sit back and keep an eye. At the moment the glugs are 4 mins apart. Tony
