    BIAB question

Not necessarily. Depends on how you learn. Some people like to work it all out and take it nice and carefully, others like to get stuck in, follow some instructions and get a result first off. The former might as well build their own recipe and work out their own brewday, the latter probably...

    Back to the tins...

Ha! I was hoping to get a brew on when Ruairidh was three weeks! Damn sure I'm going to get one on before he's three months though... Is your little 'un living up to her (brilliant, if I may say) name? By rights she should be a proper little handful. :thumb:

    Back to the tins...

TBB - East Kent Goldings for the Midas Touch. About 40g should do it. I went with the Midas Touch, Milestone Black Pearl for the stout and a Ritchies Festival Father Hooks Best Bitter in the end.

How to: Brew your first BIAB AG Beer

Yes. And if proof were needed, I've just started what are IMO three of the best kit beers on the market (short on time and beer, needs must...) - I'll let you know how they stack up in about a month and a bit...

    stepping up a starter

How many generations in a starter? Stressing yeast is one of the big contributors to off flavours isn't it? So surely best if fermenting at 10, to grow the starter at 10?
  8. C

    stepping up a starter

Hmmmm. I'd be tempted, if you have the time, to build your starter at fermentation temp, that way you have trained yeast that will be the best they can in your ten degree wort.

Is my porter really this mental?

Wow, there's a thread from the past. Good luck, it went downhill from here. I've still got a few bottles that are great for making stew...

    Back to the tins...

I did it not long before I went AG and i found it very moreish, didn't last long at all!!

    Back to the tins...

Easier... I have a slightly ulterior motive in getting the kegs filled and the dispensary set up too. Maybe... ;)

    Back to the tins...

I always said I wouldn't ever completely turn my back on kit beer... ...turns out that newborns really f**k up your brewing!!! So I'm going to get two or three kits on just to fill some kegs and buy me some time. Candidates are: Muntons Midas Touch dry hopped with EKG. Better Brew IPA dry...

I've got a terrible dose of it!!! Turns out it's hereditary... ...it appears you get it from your children... ;)

    Any folkies?

http://www.efdss.org/efdss-the-full-english The collective and the album were spawned as part of this awesome project. Some of the most beautiful vocals I've ever heard (from Nancy Kerr on "Arthur O'bradley" and "Fol the Day-O").

    Best hops needed?

I love a challenger *anything* combo! Even my APAs get bittered with Challenger. It's the unsung hero of good beer, the graceful Shirehorse-powerhouse of bittering...

    Any folkies?

Really? Artists' streaming revenues have (or so it is reported) been increasing faster than the decrease in revenues from physical sales and download sales continue to rise steadily. Take for example couple of moans I found quoted on the beeb. Royalty payments of £179.70 for 72800 streams...
