Thinking of getting a vac pac?

After a search, Lidl have these machine in the £20-£30 price bracket from time to time. I can see them on Amazon for £30+ but it's not an essential purchase so I think I'll just wait until a Lidl deal comes along. We've also the biggest Lidl Store in NI opening close to us soon so I...

Thinking of getting a vac pac?

Pretty expensive for a sealer but I notice ones at £30+, what advantage does this have over less expensive methods? I've sort have known about Sous Vide cooking when I discovered that thermostatically controlled boilers can cook by this method. I'm intrigued but I also grow some veg and the...

    Kegging and serving stouts

Has anyone used the tap-a-draft system with Nitrogen? Just curious on results. It seems the cheapest way to inject Nitrogen for a creamy stout.

    Ebay

I was jesting but I know how much extra emails can be a pain. I actually like the emails from Amazon, I generally only look for something I actually want and the friendly reminders are just the right frequency and I sometimes buy because of them. I have an Ebay account but don't search their...

    BrewDog Diy Dog Recipe App

I'd rather not say until it's released as it's in a sector with no other app available yet I think may have a large market of 10k+ downloads with a fraction paying. Just like your app it used SQLite (or maybe that's just an array?) with a recyclerview and filtered search. I've still to add a...

    BrewDog Diy Dog Recipe App

I'm maybe 2 months away from publishing my own app (unrelated to brewing) so I appreciate the work that goes into this. To program you not only need to learn Java but also need to learn Android Studio, xml, Sqlite and a host of other skills. I've a working app in Beta stages but I need to add a...

    Year old harvested yeast

It will revive but getting enough cells might be tricky. I'd go for it as well, what have you to lose? I've a Liquid Bock Yeast dated 6/16 in my fridge. I will use it but just haven't got around to it. It was a freebie from the houseofhomebrew.com as it was out of date when I was in the shop...

    Safale US05

Agree with MyQul but if you need more then just make a starter or rewash the yeast or if your making the same style of beer then just put the new batch on top of the trub of your last brew (I've done that several times) I know we all like to save pennies but ingredients are cheap anyway...

    stouts

This topic surfaces from time to time and I always give out my simple AG recipe: 3kg Maris Otter 1Kg Flaked Barley 500g Black or Roast Barley all these sizes are what your LHBS will sell in. Here's the secret ingredient: 100g Acidulated Malt This gives the stout a twang, just like Guinness...

    Hello from Newtownabbey

I started with a Coopers Kit, it gives everything you need to get going. In hindsight I'd have chosen the bitter kit over the lager one. True lagers need cool temperatures and the lager in question wasn't the best. You can pick up everything you need in stages. I know it's my local shop but The...

Adnam's Ghost Ship Mini Kegs in NI.

Yes, screw top. They looked and felt like small steel growlers with a plastic top.

Adnam's Ghost Ship Mini Kegs in NI.

OK probably not an offer but mini kegs are a bugger to find in NI but Tesco Knocknagoney had these for £15 each. These are rarer than a hens tooth, which funnily enough I couldn't find. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=292284280 They also had 2L nano kegs at £7 that...
