Cornies, King kegs and Beer Engines

Cheers for the pics W :thumb: . I connected the vented cornie directly to the beer engine and put a disconnect onto the inlet side. It worked. It also works without the inlet side being open just a little harder to pump.

    After Aleman

I zapped up the starter with two teaspoons of glucose yesterday and pitched the yeast last night. It started to work in the fermenter within 3 hours.

    Lewis Hamilton Champion

Just call me a cynical person again. But having seen the TV news I thought that Glock's car went very wide which allowed Hamilton to pass easily. A new young star emerges. Bernie's empire moves on :?:

    British Weather

Don't worry MEB, The earthquake and volcano thing's a big source of banter between my mate and me. He wants to be Barry Crump when he grows up. :D We've spent a lot of time fishing mainly in the Sounds. He'd just got rid of his pig dogs before I got to know him so I haven't been out hunting...

    Wasp Stinger - 02.11.08

Yes, the OG was exactly my target but I was a couple of litres down on quantity, although I did stop sparging at 1006.

    After Aleman

This is my first one really although I did a lager with the Chinook hops I've got loads of. I didn't have to buy big quantities. Hop & Grape will weigh out what you need and if by using them I can get around a decoction mash, until I know what I'm doing, I think it will be worth a bit extra...

    Wasp Stinger - 02.11.08

Just about ran a dead heat there mate :thumb: I finished about the same time with the same amount & OG. I think I lost a lot to absorption from the flameout hops, 43g of Saaz. These dark nights are a bugger. I'm looking out for recipes with 1 hour mash and boil times for the next few months.

    After Aleman

This is the state of the starter which is now showing signs of life. Is it worth pitching :?:

    After Aleman

I'm thinking about AT :wha: we are having minus nightime temps at the moment. The yeast's a bit slow. What do you reckon leave the boil until tomorrow?

    After Aleman

Thanks to a number of good posts on here I'm beginning to see the light and was interested in A's "cheat" recipe for pilsner. So here's my attempt I've also added 5ml of CRS to the mash & sparge water and will be adding a teaspoon of gypsum to the boil. The 90 minute mash started at 10.45. 23l...

    Neil Morrisey Brewing Channel 4

Well said J_P can I also add that despite the, we only have five months to do this in or fail hook, that these two posers are most likely be being paid to be laddish twats and the risk of failure will be minimal IMHO. Who did the brew :?: Come on lads own up. Rant over now and I feel a lot...

SP, the big blue, yep sailed all over it and it's too good to be true 8-) . I've also been on Taupo :?: The last time they heard the bang in China  Ozone depletion, no worries, plenty of factor 3000. :P Lots of good memories and friends in NZ and I thought about buying there in 2000...
