    coming over

Brewstew posted this viewtopic.php?f=30&t=407 which is a good guide for starters. There are loads of recipes about for Scottish beers but with AG you can go where you want with personal taste and flavours.

    coming over

Hi S115. There's a few people on here will be able to advise on lager recipes but I think they are a little more complex than bitters or pale ales. If you're going AG for the first time best to start with a straight forward ale recipe and learn a few of the techniques before trying the more...

    Pilsner Malt Supplier

:thumb: Thanks for the link Steve, I'll ask at H&G next time I'm in their web price on 25kg is £62.50 + PP. Comparing UK lager malt, which I've not used yet and pilsner is there any big difference in character :?:

    Pilsner Malt Supplier

I've used small 3Kg packs of German pilsner malt for the two lagers I've done but think a 25Kg sack might be better value in the long run. Is there a UK supplier doing this :?: I've seen UK lager malt offered in 25Kg but not pilsner.

I was hoping for a face to face session next year but the exchange rate doesn't look good. Keep practicing buddy you've got 46 years of drinking experience to contend with.

    Your favourite hops

Saaz for me as well it's what got me interested in AG. I've had a good beer Brewskie brewed with Motueka-Saaz B in NZ around 13% AA and have some on order, the Youngs I've used seem pretty under powered at 2.2. I've messed on with Chinook of which I have a bagful and like their harder taste...

    Sweepings Ale

Thanks Ian. I used amber malt previously on a ripped Marc Ollosson brew Hunky Dory and am a fan. This ended up very well and didn't last long. 4.200k Maris Otter .450 Amber Malt .300 Torrified Wheat Mash 90 mins @ 65 degrees Boil time 90 mins 21.5g Target @ SOB 19g Challenger @ 15mins 20g...

    New Brewer

Well done OG :thumb: I can't help with the question as I'm only a novice myself but I got a lot of satisfaction from my first AG and my latest No.7 is the best yet for clarity and efficiency.

    Sweepings Ale

Enjoyed it, a nice bright day, result 22l @1040, just a little under target. The sample has that biscuity taste from the amber malt which I like.

    Sweepings Ale

Cascades I've got loads :thumb: so I'll do it W. Nothing lost it's a bit of an experiment anyway. I'm reducing the Fruggles to 60g to take into account AA% so additional Cascade should be OK. Nice fine day up here for a change. Got the car to wash while the boil's on. If wifey brings it back...
