Nitrous oxide: Laughing gas sales to be banned, says Gove

not on a mission, I promise. I’m just trying to say that what’s right isn’t always legal, and what’s legal isn’t always right. I don’t think that anyone should get on their high horse about their particular choice of poison, or judge those with different proclivities. The fact is that in...

Nitrous oxide: Laughing gas sales to be banned, says Gove

Ha ha, me too. I consider myself doing well cos I’m now within the guidelines. Unfortunately they’re the old guidelines of 28 units a week, oops

I’d also point out that the guidelines are irrelevant, what are people actually consuming in the UK?

Good to see some care being taken of NHS staff. As a side note, I can’t thing of somewhere better ventilated than an outside park

What do you think “relaxing” with a beer after work is? Drinking is so normalised people don’t even realise what they're doing. Adding a couple of units of alcohol to your bloodstream affects your cognition, it’s exactly the same thing.

Nitrous oxide: Laughing gas sales to be banned, says Gove

Agreed, but most kids aren’t doing NoS everyday of the week. The mode of delivery is irrelevant, coming from a balloon doesn’t change its chemical make up, risks or effect. For a political party that advocates small state and personal responsibility it feels like a weird move. But true to...

My biggest issue with NOS use / abuse is littering.

Nitrous oxide: Laughing gas sales to be banned, says Gove

No, but it is inhaled in large quantities during child birth and dental treatments. Stuff exists, some people will abuse it, push it too far or are just unlucky. Unfortunately sh*t happens. How many go out on a Saturday night, get drunk and hurt themselves, or worse beat some unfortunate to...

Nitrous oxide: Laughing gas sales to be banned, says Gove

No, but 18 to 24 year olds are. It’s just the ridiculous double standards that wind me up. I think you’d be hard pushed to find many people under 40 that haven’t at least tried some kind of illegal drug and how many of the population enjoyed a few underaged drinks (possibly down the park /...

Nitrous oxide: Laughing gas sales to be banned, says Gove

“The levelling up secretary told the BBC nitrous oxide can have a "damaging effect on young brains" and its public use can lead to "greater lawlessness".” cool, let’s ban alcohol while we’re at it, I can’t think of a such an easily available substance that does the individual and society as a...

Where did you cut and past this from? Quite an interesting sociological learning tool. Shame about the last paragraph of conspiracy theorist, new world order, foil hat wearing bull.

You’ve not missed much, an old man rambling on. Incidentally this website article written by the man himself seems to contradict a huge amount of what he says in the video. https://skepticalscience.com/skeptic_Richard_Lindzen.htm

One-way ticket to Rwanda for some UK asylum seekers

I think we may, just a teeny, tiny bit, be wandering off topic 🤣

One-way ticket to Rwanda for some UK asylum seekers

Ridiculously, in the UK private schools are registered as having charitable status, so technically not businesses, but I take your point. The reality is that the very useful “old school tie” is, to an extent available to anyone with deep enough pockets. I know it’s not quite the same thing but...

One-way ticket to Rwanda for some UK asylum seekers

Utter garbage. The staffing, ratios and resources of even a mediocre private school massively advantages its pupils. The less able, often overlooked in a state system are given enough attention and support to usually achieve at least mediocre results and the able have an increased opportunity to...

What Did you Cook this Weekend?

Barbecued a whole jerk gammon joint after first boiling it with aromatics and a 24 hour scotch bonnet marinade. Served with mango salsa and the obligatory rice and peas, rum ginger cake to follow. Sadly no pics, happily an excellent sandwich to take to work tomorrow

    Texas shooting 19 dead.

Not old enough or responsible enough to have a beer, but legal to own firearms, what a mess.
