By dunk sparge you mean just lifting the bag and dunking in the wort a few times? I usually do this and even give it a squeeze or two. Got a heavyduty bulldog clip and I clip it above the bucket and let it drip before boil.

Wouldn't that draw out more unfermentable sugars out though? Or am I misunderstanding? Still such a newbie in this game. :)

Interesting read, and thanks for the advice guys :) As my understanding goes (and possibly the only reason I want to recirculate my wort) is that it eliminates the need to sparge? With my 1 tun/boiler system mashing is always the most difficult part of my brewday.

I'm sure others will chime in but I've read this forum a lot so will take a shot at answering. You could always steep some grains like crystal in some hot water (65-70) before mixing in the wort. This would be a mini-mash then which is the same process with AG but instead of using a base malt...

Also keep in mind that if you're going to be dropping it into the FV, and not a bath outside the FV, make sure you're not placing it in too hot of water. If they're faulty they can explode leaving your brew full of glass. :thumb:

Fish tank heaters have built in thermostats (expanding metal, not fail-safe btw) that keep the water temp where you twiddle the stick to. The 25L ones from a certain-shop-that-has-a-clownfish-for-a-mascot (not sure of mentioning shops here) are made by interpet and have pretty good reputation...

Thanks for putting up with my whining Clibit ;-) Think after this experience I'll learn to be a bit more patient with my brews and learn to leave them alone to do their thing!

So yeah, dry-hopped this with 60g of Galaxy for 3 days then bottled. It's been in the bottle for a week and my patience ran out so I've just cracked my first bottle. It's really nice! :) I'm sure it'll benefit from longer conditioning time but the taste is already a winner for me and a friend...
