I see, thanks. Does all the extract have to be boiled? Couldn't I reduce the quantity by ratio, so if making up 5 gallons but boiling a gallon, I boil 1/5th of a tin of extract. Wort gravity would be the same then.

Hi, is there any reason I can't make an extract recipe boiling some extract in a stove-top pan with a few litres of water, hops etc, and top up with cold water in the FV in the same way you would a kit? Cheers, Rob
