Hi Guys, started brewing today and would like a little help

As a general rule of thumb I try not to let mine go above 18 if it's beer or cider, you need to check what yeast you are using, as if its a genuine lager yeast it will need to be fermented at temperatures below that or it will produce off flavours. If you have a look at the instructions with...

Hi All - Home brew beginner here!!!!

Welcome to the forum, you may like the section 'kit reviews', there is quite a lot of info on there for different kits, wine, beer cider etc. Those sections of the forum would be worth reading as most people write down what they used as fermentable, what temps they fermented at, how long it took...

    AG #001 - Irish stout

Yeast pitched, og 1.051, instructions state 1.045. So I shall leave it a few weeks to ferment, pitched the yeast a little warm, but I didn't want to leave it any longer as I was worried about infection. It was great fun, and will be the first of many, just tried a small bit from the sample I...

    AG #001 - Irish stout

Mostly tidied up now, it's been in the fermenter a while sitting in the porch with the door open, which I hope will help cool it a bit. I will move it indoors later, I dont think I have anything to stick it in, and the bath will take ages to fill as its quite large. Will this be ok to bring...

    AG #001 - Irish stout

Not long to go now, just finishing off the boil. In the end I did a 10 minute mash out, the temp went slightly higer than what I wanted, but I will know now for next time, that the electric is tricky to control. I also sparged the grain bag with 2 kettles worth of water, which took me up to 6G...

    AG #001 - Irish stout

Well I am finally doing it (as we speak, its 16:20 and I still have about 40 mins left on my mash) I am making the homebrewcompany irish stout kit :D So today has been interesting, I started building a wort chiller, using the guide that BigYin put together, I got about half way through and...

    I hate bottling because...

I keep getting given empty crates of butty bach, no more horrible labels, I simply fill with hot water, leave them for a minute, and the label comes off in one piece along with the glue. Most other bottles are a pain, I tried all sorts on those ones, but in the end stuck with hot water ...

Ritchies On the Rocks Apple Cider Review

I will update this post over the next few days, but I bottled this kit around the 4th, just cracked it open 'out of interest' pleased to say, already clear, carbonated and if you like the koppenberg type drinks , you would probably like this. Not really my sort of drink, made it for 'er...

    Leisurely brew for today

Have not yet made an all grain, but plan to do my first in a couple of weeks time. Was this a recipe you made up, or did you find it elsewhere? What sort of a drink do you hope this to turn out like? Good luck

    AG#2 Perle bitter

Nice easy post to read. Just a couple of questions, I will be doing my first all grain over Christmas, and will probably do a biab in an old baby burco. Can I just ask firstly, what material did you use for your grain bag? And secondly, I also have a temp controller I bought from a forum...

What do you have for breakfast on Christmas Day?

Cereal, and then probably make a start on the mince pies and fruit for a couple of hours

The Homebrew Company Irish Stout All Grain Kit Review

I tend to age mine at least 6 months (I am fairly patient, plus it gives me an excuse to brew other things to keep my mind off it) Well, if you are like me, and condition, and you say it was good after 2 months, that must be a good sign! :thumb:
