Good online place for used books

I used eBay for several books, mainly from private sellers. However I did get a good deal from The Cotswold library also on ebay for my "booze for free" book. £4.25 and in mint condition.

Help please with my Dandelion wine

I have done the recipe from Andy Hamilton Booze for free but not sure if I should leave the citrus peel in or take it out  Just taken another reading with 2 hydrometers and still way off. Temperature is 20c So I guess me and my crutch need to go out a hunting more heads

Help please with my Dandelion wine

Hi Clint, When it was soaking there was a little strange smell, but to be honest this is the first time I have done dandelion so just assumed it was ok. This morning it just smells of citrus.

Help please with my Dandelion wine

Hi Wynott, Ok so the hydrometer shows the highest reading of 1.120 and it was sitting lower than that. I have made a 5 litre batch. So am I right in thinking the recipe is way too high in the sugar content and if so do you think I should add water to bring the readings down to a more sensible...

Help please with my Dandelion wine

I have soaked my dandelion petals for 2 days and this morning I started the next stage with straining off the water and adding sugar etc. While getting a bit carried away making sure the temperature was cool enough to add the yeast (in between doing the other 1/2 dozen jobs) I forgot to check...

I blew my top last night

It was second hand but It looked in good condition. We had walked away from some second hand barrels previously as they looked ruff. I had filled it with water and checked for leaks before use and didn't notice anything unusual. You never know how something has been treated before, so might of...

I blew my top last night

My first keg of ale, woodfordes wherry kit. Had a nice bit of carbonation to each glass. Third glass poured from the barrel and the pour slowed right down and stopped so I thought it needed a little gas to re pressurise. So I twisted the little gas bottle onto the keg. It made me jump as it...

    Gooseberry wine suprise

Well I am trying to make some room in by brew cupboard (which is full of wine and cider) so I grabbed a bottle of 12/19 gooseberry wine. Last time I had a bottle it was very dry, quite hard to drink, so I was ready with the sweetener tonight. But boy it is so tasty and smooth, even my husband...

Do I need a fermentation fridge?

Hi, not a silly question at all. I have been thinking the same thing myself. I am an amateur brewer and I have over the last few year made wines and ciders and now have taken the plunge with ales. My first a Wherry kit and I have just done a biab kit for Brewdog punk IPA. I have found with the...
