    Homebrew expectations vs. commercial beer

I tried cheap kits some 25 years ago when a teenager and they were, well absolutely horrific. Recently have been inspired by a post on here about a simple AG SMaSH so gave it a go. I gave a bottle of my first attempt to my brother and he said if I hadn't told him I made it he wouldn't have...

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

Just had a case of mixed Brewdog delivered, to have a taste. Currently quaffing an Elvis Juice (for the first time). Quite nice. Better than the clockwork tangerine thing I think.

    Q. For the big drinkers

Yea me too. Usually 7 days, usually several cans worth.

    Q. For the big drinkers

Haha well I'm enjoying the creation part. Need to enjoy the drink part. Booze is expensive

    Q. For the big drinkers

Hey guys. So I drink everyday. Probably way too much. Cost me a fortune, should cut down yada yada (not the point of this thread). My question is, do you big drinkers brew all your own drinks or do you find you drink more than you can brew and/or need to supplement?

Have a go at simple AG

Gave this a go as my 1st ever homebrew attempt. I've just bottled what the recipe said. Although I also threw caution to the wind and budged 4 days of random dry hopping. Was surprised and a disappointed by the amount of waste I got from trub and general crap at the bottom of the fv. 10l...

    2nd AG attempt

Thanks man yea I mean I'm never going to be able to "clone" a recipe anyway but gives me an idea about grain and hop and potential flavour profiles. I think the best way is just to keep brewing, keep experimenting, keep drinking 🥰

    2nd AG attempt

Cheers Nick. I bought the Brewdog book which supposedly has the recipe in. Gives me, as an amateur, an idea. I guess the smell of the hops gives a lot away. If you like the smell they should be used in the last boil stages/dry hop stage for aromas. Maybe I'm wrong there though. Right so...

    2nd AG attempt

Sorry not cascade, columbus. They're all I have atm. Happy for suggestions tbh as very new to this. Looking for large hoppy modern APA type (Gamma Ray) flavours and aromas. I realise I need more hops.

    2nd AG attempt

Hey all. So clearly I can't be doing small batch without having a few on the go at once eh?! After my first ever homebrew attempt a few weeks ago I've just started my second. Calculated for about 12.5litres. 2.5kg Pale malt 200g Crystal malt Have some Columbus for the bittering and will add...

1st ever brew (AG BiB Smash)

Just taken another gravity reading and moved to secondary, where in a day or two I'll dry hop for a few days before bottling. Took a litre off to compare. Might be a bit off with my readings but is about 5% ABV

Busy times from home brew shops

B2B for me are still wicked.

Busy times from home brew shops

I've made two orders from B2B over the last week (apologies it should have been one bigger order but only realised how great your prices are the day after placing the first). Recieved my first order of Malt today. The second order I saw getting fulfilled on Saturday. The way parcelforce have...

Busy times from home brew shops

Got some stuff coming from Brew2bottle which will allow a couple more small batch AG SMaSH. I live less than a mile from a micro brewery, unfortunately they won't supply grain/hops.

    Secondary fermentation (in bottle) worry

I'd be more worried about cold crashing and it killing the yeast.

    Secondary fermentation (in bottle) worry

Yea worry is a relative term. Home brew is a bit of an escape atm. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist though, and like to do the best I can at a given task. (Not to mention good tasting beer is always epic)

Wicked. Super quick reply, thank you.

    Secondary fermentation (in bottle) worry

Hey guys. Very new to this, have tried to find an answer but can't. I hear leaving my brew in the FV for a bit after the gravity has stabilised is good to help "clear up". Is there a case of leaving it too long where the yeast will die (or become ineffective) when bottling and needing it for...
