    Erik The Anglophile's brewdays.

Cooking up some "invert 3" atm for a brew, gonna start heating the mash water soon, can do real time brewday log if anyone is interested? Gonna be a sort of Old Peculier inspired one to be kept in keg until february to help us through the coldest part of winter...

    Water Profile for Stock/Old/KK Ale?

I suppose what I am after is a sort of Burton or Stock ale, although there seems to have been some overlap between the 3 at the later part of their height. I suppose the sweet pale ale profile will be good for what I intend with this beer to avoid a cloying sweetness. Just looking at the recipe...

    Water Profile for Stock/Old/KK Ale?

Got an old timey(late 1800's-early 1900's) inspired stock ale I intend to brew sometime in the coming months: The Maris Otter is actually GP, and the vienna a mild malt sub, plan to ferment it as usual with my Verdant/MJ Liberty Bell mix, then rack to a secondary with some boiled medium toast...

    pennine's brewdays

I have used Verdant in my last few brews aswell, have a basic pale bitter fermenting with it now, 2/3 Simpson Golden Promise, 1/3 Warbro Balder Vienna malt, some wheat and inverted Demerara as an invert 2 approximation. Although I co pitch it with Mangrove Jacks Liberty Bell, since I found it on...

    Declining bitter.

Contrary to popular belief, people drank water back in the day. Have you read that Zythophile post where he referenced some science researcher who had done a paper on the subject? They came to the conclusion that if people drank small beer for everyday consumtion and stronger occasionally, about...

    Declining bitter.

I use a normal keg setup, prime my kegs to ~2 vol of co2 and have the pressure set to equilibrium for that at 11c. However i dispense through nukataps with stout spouts attached that knocks at least half the co2 out and gives a creamy white head. I would not call it cask but I do get a sort of...

I know nothing about the chess world I just went in the thread as soon as I read the title, I am a man of culture after all.

    Obtaining bottles

Timothy Taylor, Black Sheep and York Brewery bottles are really good, sturdy and thick walled. I have switched over to those for the few beers like strong/KK ales and Imp stouts etc that I will continue to bottle. So now you have a good excuse to drink a bunch of Landlord and Yorkshire Terrier...😉

Why does this have to be so confusing!?

Another free to use spreadsheet based calculator is mash made easy, made by a member over at the American Homebrewtalk forum. I use it for my water adjustment, it works a charm and the guy who designed it is very helpful if you have any questions or input.

    Hyundai and KIA

I don't have a KIA but our second/my daily get to work car is a 2001 Skoda Octavia 2.0, the slightly higher clearance and 4-wheel drive version. It's an old car and requires some maintenance once in a while, changing oil and filters and sparkplugs now and then, the ECT sensor gave up and I...

    Enough is Enough.

Welcome to the Great Reset, things will only get worse. When most of the population are stuck in the big cities, live in a little pod in a giant de facto labour camp, "rent" everyday things that used to be personal property and all cultures of Earth are replaced by hyper materialist consuming...

    Brewing Outdoors

During winters here we regularly see periods of 30-35c below freezing, and summer is mosquito season, at least they always show up at evening wich is the time of day I usually have opportunity to brew. Kitchen for me until I can fix my brew room in the basement. And you who complain about...

    Erik The Anglophile's brewdays.

I have brewed a Best Bitter that I never posted, nothing fancy. OG 1.041 FG 1.010 MO as base, 10% invert 2, 6% Crystal split 50/50 Crisp 150/240 ebc and .5% chocolate malt for a little flavour depth and colour adjustment. Hopped to 33 IBU and a 20min/80c hopstand with 1g/L Fuggle, so the actual...
