    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

Must be nice living somewhere just a little transparent plastic is enough to combat the worst of the cold... Been thinking of doing something similair but it would only be used during summer since countering temps in the -30's and snowdrift without an actual house is tough.

    Ignore, can't delete

Nah, I think we must ignore it some more.

    Erik The Anglophile's brewdays.

Oh, and yesterday I tapped about half a shotglass of my old ale, and took a refractometer reading. Down to an estimated 1.007 from 1.080 for just under 10% abv, gonna take another reading in 3-4 weeks to see if it is stable and bottle if it is. Just the Imperial Stout left to go but that seems...

    Erik The Anglophile's brewdays.

I rebrewed that light bitter, used about 1/3 Crisp Vienna malt, and a EKG/Fuggle combo for late boil and dry hops. It's a nice bitter but nothing really special, a decent light quaffer. Almost 2 weeks ago I brewed up a Stout that will be kegged this morning. A late 1800's London Stout inspired...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Just got done harvesting my only second year plant, next year I hopefully have 2 more to harvest...

    Climate change.

Well I will not engage in it further aswell as it is, as you say, merely a circular argument. And besides that this is not the right thread for it.

    Climate change.

Ah yes, because if you question anything around this you are a climate change denier. Have I once said we are not wrecking our earth? Have I once said this perpetual growth is sustainable? May I respectfully urge you to get off your high horses.

    Climate change.

@Clarence While on the whole I agree with your sentiment, I think your assesion raises some important questions. It is not countries per se that plunder the 3rd world, with the exception of French thinly veiled neo-colonialism in West Africa. It is large international mega-corporations with the...

And that bit about farming being bad, just because the 3rd world is unable to stop their rapid population growth we should stop eating and not focus on locally grown produce? That's nonsense from you.

    Climate change.

You can "survey media" all you want but the fact is still that free media does not exist outside of a few citizen journalists. All media houses are tied to holdings entangled in other big finance, the people who own the world also control what you read.

    Climate change.

Most hardcore environmentalists are against nuclear power, and farmers wanting more focus on domestically grown and eaten foods is good for the climate, yes? Have you never wondered why all these people who are alarmists about climate change fly their private jets to the seminars? Why so many...

    Climate change.

None of that is going to happen in our lifetime. I am concerned aswell about our impact and influence on the climactic cycles, but you have to understand that peddling climate fear is a multi billion dollar bussiness.

I hope you live near a big city with industrial assets so your death will atleast be quick and painless.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Well there are actually a few heritage varieties who have been found on old abandoned homesteads etc in both Piteå and Umeå, so hops have been grown up here historically. Many of these sorts have roots back to the 1400-1600's when many farmers paid tax in beer for the King's army. Some of them...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

We got rid of the last pockets of snow hiding in shady ditches etc in the first days of June this year, normally that has been melted away 2-3 weeks ago by that time...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Well, really slow spring and colder than usual weather during May and early June. Followed by a 2-3 week heatwave that ended a little after the summer solstice, then it has been a little back and forth but no real heat to speak of. We have unlimited daylight during summer though so I guess...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Got some I'll probably harvest later today. Broke apart a cone and there was yellow dust inside and the fragrance of it came out. I was a little worried because it is no really strong fragrance, but it's an old domestic heritage variety so I probably should not expect US levels of smell...
