First Coopers stout. Fermantation stopped short.

My SG was 1.050 and the FG was 1.011, brewed short to 20L. Works out about 5.1%. Fermented at 20c for 10 days. Just used 1Kg Coopers Brew Enhancer 2, 450g Black Treacle, primed 1x Coopers carb drops per bottle. I have done this brew loads of times and it is pretty foolproof and always comes out...

First Coopers stout. Fermantation stopped short.

I would say its probably finished but to be sure, you want to get the same three FG readings over three days. My Coopers Stout with treacle finishes about the same.

    loads of head !!

I attach a six inch piece of tubing to the tap spout and pour into the bottom of the glass. Still get foam but not too much. I also prime Lager in my keg with 140g Golden Sugar for a 20L brew.

    Wilkos Stout Stuck at 1.018

The reason for adding the lactose was to try and make a milk stout for the missus. Checked the SG just now and its showing 1.017 should give me about 4.4%. I think I will add the rest of the lactose to try and make it sweeter (200g, all that was left in the bag) and take a chance and bottle it...

I've easily kept a keg of Wherry for 4 months under pressure and cool. I wrapped it it in a damp sheet and it was fine all the down.

Cooper Stout Winter Warmer advice please?

If it was me, I would definitely add at least 500g Extra Dark Malt and brew short to 20L (if you want a stronger beer) I wouldn't add any hops as I think this kit is just fine as it is but I don't like hoppy beer. As to the spices, sorry I've no idea but I wouldn't mind trying that myself...

Brew #2 Wilko Dark Velvet Stout

I always put a 450g tin of Black Treacle in my Coopers Stout, always brewed short to 20L, and I think that tastes fine by me. Still thats only my personal taste and everyones different. Your Wilko Stout sounds ok to me, I'm sure it will come out fine and if not, well you can always change it...

    Stout started bubbling again!

I've tried adding: 1. 450g Black Treacle (nice) 2. 450g Black Treacle + 40g Grated Fresh Ginger boiled with 500g Dark Spraymalt (didn't really taste the Ginger, wouldn't do again) 3. 1kg Extra Dark Malt, 300g Crushed Chocolate Malt, 100g Crushed Wheat Malt, 50g Green + Black 70% Dark...

    Stout started bubbling again!

I would wait until the SG is down to about 1.010. Thats what I always do. Maybe when you added the liquorice it disturbed the sediment? And I agree with you, this is my favourite kit and I've done it five times this year trying different flavours. :-D

    Coopers Original Stout Review

I just downloaded an ABV Calculator from the play store to my phone. Don't know how accurate it is but I'm not really bothered. If it tastes good, that's fine by me. :D
