There don't seem to be any exposed connections other than that wore you mention. I'm guessing you don't have a multimeter to hand to check it for voltage? Maybe try and house it in something if your worried.
What your describing is actually called extract brewing. If you have the Greg Hughes book a lot of his recipes give an extract version where you use spray malt and some grains and then boil this with some hops for bitterness. A few of the online HBS sell extract kits too.
I think once you start going above 2" as a hobbyist it gets expensive and you start paying a lot more for fittings.

Only issue I can see is trying to thread pipe without a machine. Wouldn't fancy getting the hand dies out on anything over 2"
Can't zoom in too well on my phone but they've gone with a reducer by the look of it. If anyone knows the thread size of the tap shank then just get a reducer from the bigger size.
Looks like they're using 2" Black fittings there.
Something similar for sale on the forum.

As for CIP that should be possible yeah.
@Clint I've had my eye on this BBQ for a while. I do like the look of the Outbacks. And as an added bonus it has a charcoal basket so you can appease the BBQ police. No side burner though, is that where you do the majority of your cooking?
Lidl had some BBQs this week in the middle aisle. One gas one and two different charcoal kettle types. Gas was £179 but they didn't have one in my local store just the £29 charcoal kettle thing. The other one looked like a kamodo and I believe was £99.
I live in a new build with FTTP. But I believe I still pay for the landline even though I don't use it. BT must have insisted and last time I spoke to them we had a row so I haven't bothered since lol.
I was trying to abstain but the mixed case I bought from Untapped in Raglan was calling.
Very nice pale ale and very refreshing after a hard day off cleaning, tidying, looking after kids and a brief spell at the allotment.
Just cracked open a few bottles of a semi local beer. Both were very good but the Ember especially was very nice. More of a christmassy drink but I over indulged on Brew Dog Pales yesterday so it's most welcome.
