    Cornflake Strain

You bet your life it is. [youngsters - this is a pop culture reference from the 1990s. Ask an old person]

Coopers 15l fermenter - who has one?

Does anyone here have a Coopers 15l fermenter (the smaller one that comes with the 8.5l Mr Beer kit)? Can you answer a few questions for me please? What is the volume? Is it 15l to the brim or is it lined to 15l with more headspace? Can you fit a bottling stick to the tap? Do you bother with...

    Strike Temperature

The OP was talking about a recirculation pump, so I doubt he had direct access to the surfaces, hence why I suggested using a cleaning agent. I agree about fermenters, except I only use the yellow side. I wipe the worst off with a wet wipe/damp kitchen towel, then soak in warm water for 10...

    Cornflake Strain

I’m planning my first brew - an all-grain triple decoction barrel aged cave aged Imperial Stout. I’ve watched a load of videos on BrewingNitpickers.com and can’t decide if the cave should be limestone or granite. What do you guys think?

Starsan isn’t a cleaner, it’s a sanitiser. It’s job is to sanitise surfaces that are already clean - it won’t clean by itself. You should use a separate cleaner first, rinse if necessary (depending on the cleaner used) THEN apply Starsan to sanitise it for storage. And then sanitise it again...

    Warm weather brew ideas?

I’ve just discovered saison yeast isn’t always that saisony. I’ve just popped my first bottle of Coopers stout that I free-fermented with Mangrove Jack French Saison yeast. It must have fermented at at least 25C as the flat rarely gets colder than that and the brew cupboard is snug. I’m not...

Full Braumeister set up for sale, lots of extras.

If you decide to split, I would be interested in the bench capper.

    Kveik

I've got some Omega Horninal (spelling?) on the way. Going to try a 15-minute pale ale using Falconers Flight for what will hopefully be the easiest brewing day, short of a kit and kilo. Given undepitching is the order of the day (and I'll only be doing a small batch - 11-12L), what's the best...

    Yeast for malty milk stout

Bottled this last night. Has a slightly sour tang to it... :( Think it might be infected, so used PET bottles just in case the freeloaders chomp anything the M42 left behind. Sigh. Always gutting when all that effort comes to naught.

    Well Done Malt Miller

I did exactly this with 2 cases of beer that Beer Hawk sent in error (and hadn’t charged me for!). I was a bit taken aback that they didn’t thank me for my honesty, but there you go.

    Peltier cooling

Is the coolant being passed through the fermenting wort, or is it just cooled around the outside of the fermenter?

    TheHomebrewcompany AITA?

I was just looking at ordering some bits and was looking at various suppliers. This thread has put me off them. Any business can make a mistake, but how they respond to it determines what kind of business they are. Their response to this mistake is extremely poor. ‘From feudal serf to spender...

T.V Licence - Up to 3.7 million pensioners will now have to pay for it.

You didn’t check very hard or well then. It is, and always has been (in its current guise as the British Broadcasting Corporation) a statutory corporation operating by Royal Charter. A plc has to be listed on an exchange with publicly traded shares.

    Coopers extract beers

    Imperial stout, £39. https://www.lovebrewing.co.uk/russian-imperial-stout-beerworks-craft-brewery-series/ Couldnt find a £100 kit!

    Coopers extract beers

The most expensive kit I've ever seen is £50 for an extract DIPA or Imperial Stout. I'm going to have to go and look for these £100 kits as I'm intrigued.

    Northern Brewer FV markings

I’ve not tried the Young’s kits yet, but they do have a good reputation. I’d check in the relevant threads whether these are ones to brew short (as is the standard recommendation for cheaper kits). IIRC 5 US gallons is 18.9L so that would be quite short. Might make for a potent brew...
