    Kveik

He told me it’s 4g - that looks about right from your picture.

    Kveik

I’m thinking of brewing a big beer to make use of kveik’s faster conditioning times (and to use up some LME I have lingering in the shed). Possibly a RIS or a barley wine. Which kveik would be best suited to this? I don’t plan on going over 10% so alcohol tolerance won’t be the deciding factor...

    Sterilising bottles

My method: I have a plastic squirty bottle (the kind you use for watering plants) which I fill with Starsan solution. A few squirts inside coats the entire bottle. I let them sit for a short while (whilst I do the other bottles), then going back to the first bottle, drain the Starsan out into a...

    Kveik

I messaged the seller to find out. He replied very quickly - about half an hour! The reply; New message from: yeasterbunnybrewing (300) Hi, As the description says, it’s enough for 5 gal batches, up-to 30L or so. There’s 4g in a pack.

A kit similar to Timothy Taylor Landlord?

Yet the advertising campaign only mentions fuggles. Perhaps they were worried that Savinjski Styrians sounded too foreign.

    Plastic or glass bottles

The 2mm strip is a tamper-evident seal. It’s of no use for homebrew for personal consumption. I cut them off after the first use as they just get in the way.

    Kveik

When mine stuck, I used a long spoon to stir up the yeast cake from the bottom, and added some extra yeast from my jar full. Not sure which worked but the fermentation got going again and went down to 1.011. I think the yeast flocculated out early - not sure why but yeast is a fickle beast.

    Narrower bottles?!

Fullers FTW. Tall and thin, labels fall off, beer is great and often on offer at the supermarket. One benefit of the thinness is that I can use the 330ml Fast Rack and they fit side by side. But I’m moving away from glass to PET now anyway.

    Rehydrated yeast a bit early

She probably liked the Spice Girls too. Clearly not someone whose judgment should be trusted.

    Spent yeast down the drain

And Adnams. As the big sign by the piggery says ‘Adnams pigs are happy pigs!’

what is the best beer you have ever tasted?

Rochefort 10 Chimay Bleu Rodenbach Grand Cru Most memorably enjoyable beer - a pint (swiftly followed by a second) of Fullers ESB in the Bath Ale House in Cambridge. One of my favourite beers in one of my favourite pubs with my favourite people and the beer was absolutely spot on that night...

    Kveik

How much do you get per order? Is just a teaspoon full (kveik pitching!) or a bigger amount?

    Bottling wand

I only had one that didn’t drip... but it broke. *sigh* My least drippy one I put the washing up bowl beneath. I also put a couple of sheets of kitchen towel in the bowl so the drips don’t splash over the kitchen cupboards. If you work reasonably quickly (ie have all your bottles ready) the...

    Kveik

Thanks for that - being able to buy dried kveik is great. If anyone buys any of this, it’d be great if you could report back. I’m interested in how much yeast they’d send.

    Richie's starter brewing kit

Small bottle of star san and a spray bottle. :)

Can anything rescue a bland brew?

Or just save it for when you’ve had a few and your tastebuds are shot anyway... :)

How do you relax with a homebrew?

The thing I hate most about AirBNBs are the blunt knives and crap pans. And a lack of bottle opener is the final straw.

Can anything rescue a bland brew?

Yup, dry hopping FTW. A few years ago, Everards ran an advertising campaign based on tiger being dry hopped. ‘Dry hopping mania’ IIRC.

Can anything rescue a bland brew?

Fruit is always an option too, but you might want to transfer back to the FV for that. A hop tea/dry hop would be simpler.
