    Damn - forgot the honey

Made a cream Ale two days ago and now fermenting nicely - suddenly dawned on me that I forget to add the honey. Need some friendly advice - do I just forget it, should I add to current batch? Need an experts steer Thanks all

    Which Keg is best?

Given kegging is a new experience (and more cash outlay) I presume priming with sugar similar to bottles would deliver similar results, albeit take a bit longer? If so - is the sugar volume the same as with bottles?

    Which Keg is best?

Thanks for the advice - with regards to gas, is it worth bothering with a soda stream for 19l keg?

    Which Keg is best?

Afternoon all After a year of brewing I have just branched out to increase my capacity- now up to 8 Gallons. So thinking I will bottle part of my new first batch and keg the rest. Now kegging is new to me and it seems there are two choices: plastic keg vs Corny Keg and Sugar primed vs CO2...

Wheat Beer - not quit on the Mark

Evening all - apologies for the tardy response. Recipe was 1.45kg wheat malt, 1.45kg pilsner malt, 200g Vienna, 15g Wai-iti, 15g Motueka (both at 5 mins) orange peel at 15 mins and 5 days. American Ale Yeast. Made 28 300 cl bottles - 75g sugar added for bottling. The taste is great - it has a...

Wheat Beer - not quit on the Mark

Evening all A few week back I brewed a whet beer, trying to replicate Blue Moon - I used NZ hops, added orange peel and was eagerly awaited by brew. I got the zest, great scent, solid orange tang - but a slight let down - a crystal clear brew, slight fizz, but no head. Six tests latter (beer...

No kit involved CT - so wondering if I should boil beforehand, or soak overnight in vodka

    Using Oak Chips

Evening All I am going to make a Burton Ale tomorrow and the recipe states adding oak chips at time of fermentation. Surely these wouldn’t be sterile and would cause a problem? Would be great to get a steer on this Thanks all

    First contaminated beer

Hi Leon Just brewed normal All grain saison. Syphoned to bottle bucket, added cooled sugar, gentle stir - all item sterile. Bottled - caps via siphon wand into bottles (sterilised with Star SAN and capped. Same process done many times. To my knowledge only two bottles thus far out of 30 affected

    First contaminated beer

No - it was the real deal, gain, Saidon yeast etc - like I say 85% all good, so must be bottle contamination... just hoping to understand what

    First contaminated beer

Recently made what I thought was a lovely Saison - gave out to friends, a couple said it wasn’t drinkable- cloudy, nasty bitter taste and looked like it was about to bubble over. Must be something that happened when bottling - saw a video, but couldn’t upload and it did look like it was...

    Bottle conditioning

Not crystal clear - but I have noticed that since progressing to bottling bucket rather than directly in bottle, I am not getting the same heads on my beers. Added Carapils to this brew so hoping it helps

    Bottle conditioning

I am just about to bottle my first wheat beer - it’s been two weeks in primary, 1 week in secondary sat on some orange peel, in garage at about 4 degrees. It has cleared relatively well for a wheat beer, but looks exceptionally flat. How will I know if there is sufficient active yeast to...

    Have I lost my IPA?

Cheers Dull Boy - have another IPA based on BD Challenger ... not bottled yet, but also doesn’t seem to have cleared very well. Fermented well at 20deg for 2 weeks, then moved to garage, now nearing 3rd ... was looking to bottle over when’d and hope it would clear ... any thoughts? Never...
