    Replanting a hop plant

That's true. I just like the idea of having a hop plant and seeing how it goes. G I suppose one day I'll get a usuable one. If I can keep this one alive.

    Replanting a hop plant

I assume that I can dig up the root stock and cut a length off of it?

    Replanting a hop plant

Right that's what I needed to know, the roots. Now I just need to figure out where the roots are, as it's not really visible atm. I'll probably have to wait for the growth this year, and grab a root then. Thanks for the links to taking care of hops, they will also be handy

    Replanting a hop plant

There's a wild hop plant growing just up the road from me and I was thinking about taking a "copy" to care for myself. I've no idea how to successfully accomplish this, so what do I need to know, in order to grow my own from this plant, is that's possible?

How to build a stir plate for less than ten quid

This has worked really well. I found the middle, spun the fan, held a Sharpie to it to find its center and stuck the paper on. Then stuck the magnet in the paper. Thanks for a great tip

How to build a stir plate for less than ten quid

Will give this a try. Certainly sounds like the tip I needed to center the bloody thing. Of course, I didn't manage to come up with the paper idea, which is so nice and simple.

    Batch sparge advice

I adjusted the fv volume now as it is 24 instead of 22. Giving me 68%. Much happier with that. Ok, that's a good improvement on previous brews. Thanks

    Batch sparge advice

Just finished a brewday and tried this method. Managed to only get 63% efficiency though. I was aiming for 22liters to FV and mashed in at 65C with 19liters, first sparge 10l with 80C, second 10l with 78C. Each time did 4 700ml vorlauf and added them back into the mash. Now my mash's pH was...

    Getting a brewing license

I have a friend opening a brewery full time. He keeps saying I should do it too. I always say that I like earning money :) We shall see how it goes. If it goes ahead I will document the process of course

    Getting a brewing license

This wouldn't be a full time gig, merely helping out a local pub *if* they decide to put a small brewery on the premises. I wanted to get an idea on how much work and paperwork it would be to get something like this off the ground. So far it seems it might be worth looking more into the...

    Getting a brewing license

Very helpful thank you for detailing it out. A good starting point. Seems worth looking deeper into the details.

    Using leaf Gelatine for fining

I added one leaf of the missus's baking gelatin sheets to the FV and left it for another few days at 4C. I bottled it and left it for another 14 days to condition Beer was lovely and clear. Certainly an improvement over a non gelatin beer I've bottled before. This was one leaf to about 12l of beer.

    Getting a brewing license

I'm just curious what's involved in getting a license to brew beer. A friend of ours is in a position to take over a pub and was wondering what it would take to open a small brewery on the premises. I'd love to offer to brew part time, but I am unsure about how much effort/cost is involved in...
